• Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates and ensure they can be located in an emergency. 
• Review your personal security plans. 
• Be aware of your surrounding and local security developments at all times. 
• Keep a low profile.
• Notify a trusted person of your travel and movement plans. 
• Make contingency plans to leave when it is safe to do so that do not rely on U.S. government assistance. 
• Monitor local media.

Visa Processing

Due to the recent closure announcement, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has suspended all consular operations. Currently, the U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt is now the processing post for immigrant visa applications for citizens in Ukraine.

Applicants with a pending Immigrant Visa (IV) can submit a request to have their application transferred to U.S. Embassies in neighboring countries. Applicants interested in relocating their application file should follow instructions on the respective Embassy website to apply for a visa.
