HOUSE-PASSED INVEST IN AMERICA ACT INCLUDES INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN CA-33

July 1, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) voted for the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act. The bill includes nearly $20 million in federal resources for projects in California's 33rd Congressional District. The INVEST in America Act is a transformative $547 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill that seeks to modernize our roads, bridges, transit, and more.

"We need a comprehensive approach to modernizing our surface infrastructure. Investing in roads, bridges, transit, rail and water systems makes us safer and healthier. It's also good for our economy. By passing this measure, House Democrats are making it clear that we want to invest in American workers and communities, while addressing the climate crisis and our crumbling infrastructure. I'm pleased that a number of my funding requests made it into the bill that passed today. Investing in Los Angeles County's infrastructure and transit will help our community address current and future challenges around congestion, traffic and the environment. I will continue advocating for these projects as this bill moves to the Senate so that our community can secure the infrastructure funding it needs and deserves."
