BOCC tables plans to close airport

Allan Feifer, left, and Younes Errahali hold up signs Monday, Sept. 19, in downtown Crawfordville to show their support for keeping Wakulla County Airport open.

The future of the Wakulla County Airport is still up in the air.

That’s good news for airport supporters because the consent agenda for the Sept. 17 meeting of the Wakulla County Commission included a resolution confirming the airport as surplus property, directing notice to FDOT of the county’s intent to abandon the airport and to the FAA that the county intended to abandon it and discontinue use.
