A Tallahassee dentist was featured on Good Morning America last week because videos of him singing have racked up millions of views on TikTok in less than a year.

Brandon Meckelberg, an Aspen Dental dentist, has been making TikTok users smile since December 2020, when his wife Sarah Meckelberg began secretly recording him singing and posted them on the social media website.

Most of the videos take place in his home, car or live at a few karaoke bars in town. The songs vary from numbers in Les Misérables to Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon.”

The TikTok that has the most views is of Brandon layering and looping his voice through a small Fender amplifier to create a full cover of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens.

During the Good Morning America segment that began with Sarah discussing her work as a dietitian, the focus switched to Brandon and his viral TikTok performances.

"My whole mindset coming on was to be a supportive husband and to just really pump her up, promote her business and talk about how wonderful she is," said Brandon, 29.

"I didn't expect any of it," he added, referring to his viral fame. "The experience as a whole for me was shocking, but it was really exciting too.

“... I’m very confused but super ecstatic,” he said to the hosts on the reaction to his vocal performances. “I’m excited to see what she all put up there. Hopefully nothing embarrassing.”

Singing dentist offered chance to record in professional studio

The segment ended with the hosts offering Brandon the opportunity to professionally record himself in a Fort Walton Beach studio, The Sound Cafe + Enlightened Studios. The song he records will also receive an accompanying music video.

“Wow, that is incredible,” he said in reaction to the offer. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long and I haven't been able to focus on music because of my profession.”

The couple moved from Tallahassee to South Walton in December. Brandon oversees three Aspen Dental practices in Tallahassee, Panama City and Panama City Beach.

Looking ahead, Brandon said he would love for music to turn into a second career, giving him another outlet to make people happy, which is ultimately what drives him.

"I think that with music, it's something that comes very naturally to me and I really enjoy doing it," he said. "If I can positively impact people and make them smile, that is what motivates me."
