Secretary of Veterans Affairs 810 Vermont Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20420 Dear Secretary McDonough, ‘On April 1, 2022, I sent you a letter asking if any resources from the Department of Veterans A fairs (VA) will be diverted from serving our nation’s veterans to deal with the crisis President Biden has created on our southern border. I would like to follow up on that request, as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki could not deny that resources allocated to the VA would be sent to assist illegal aliens at the southern border when she ‘was specifically asked this question yesterday. Furthermore, on April 26, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a memorandum! outlining their strategy to handle the border crisis. The memo states that DHS will enlist the help of the Department of Defense, the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in diverting resources away from their core missions to address the Biden Border Crisis VA resources should be used for our veterans, not to manage President Biden’s self-created crisis at the southem border. Instead of depriving our nation’s heroes of resources, the Biden administration should reinstate the effective border security policies of the Trump administration and complete construction of the border wall. To ensure your Department is not diverting resources from America’s veterans, | am once again asking the following: 1. Have any funds that were appropriated by Congress to the VA been diverted to assist foreign nationals entering our country at the southern border? Are you planning to divert any funds that were appropriated by Congress to the VA to assist foreign nationals entering our country at the southern border? 2, Have any VA personnel been sent to provide services or resources to foreign nationals at our southem border? Are you planning to send any VA personnel tothe southern border to provide services or resources to foreign nationals? expect a response to these questions before any resources are diverted from the VA to assist foreign nationals illegally entering our country at the southern border.
