President Joe Biden will tour Pfizer’s vaccine manufacturing facility in Portage on Friday, marking his first visit to Michigan as the nation struggles to meet the high demand for COVID-19 vaccines.

Biden’s visit to Portage, where the first doses rolled off Pfizer’s production line last December, underscores the president’s efforts to end the coronavirus pandemic. The White House said last week that new contracts with Pfizer and Moderna will put the country on track to vaccinate every American by summer, but the distribution of doses has faced challenges.
