Walberg Meets with Local Law Enforcement, Reaffirms Support for Police

August 13, 2021

Adrian, MI—This week, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) met with police chiefs and law enforcement officials from Lenawee County to talk about the recent surge in violent crime in big cities across America. At the meeting, Walberg also reaffirmed his support for local police departments, thanked them for their work to keep our communities safe, and denounced the dangerous calls to "defund the police" by far-left politicians.

"Here in Lenawee County and across Michigan's 7th District we are fortunate to have such quality law enforcement leaders and communities that overwhelmingly back the blue. I am grateful for all they do each day. When it comes to federal legislation, I will remain vigilant to ensure the men and women serving our communities have the resources and support needed. I will always stand with law enforcement and strongly object to dangerous efforts to defund the police," said Walberg.

"We've seen an unfortunate spike in attacks on law enforcement—both in political discourse as well as physical violence. This past year tragically set a record for the number of law enforcement officials killed in the line of duty. As crime rises and elected officials continue damaging anti-police sloganeering, it is more important than ever to stand with the brave men and women who risk their lives to keep our streets safe," Walberg continued.
