Rep. Omar Secures $24,720,224 For Local Projects in Final Government Funding Package

December 23, 2022

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) announced $24,720,224 in Community Project Funding for the 5th District of Minnesota was included in the final House-passed 2023 appropriations government funding package. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the Fifth District.

“I am proud to have secured over $24 million in Community Project Funding that I know meets long overdue community needs in Minnesota’s 5th District and builds on our previous success delivering $17 million to the district,” Rep. Omarsaid. “These include investments in housing, healthcare, food access, the environment and community space. They were achieved with input from constituents throughout the Fifth District, built on a model of cogovernance. The investments create Minnesota jobs with better pay, make us safer, strengthen our communities, and help to tackle climate change. I’m grateful to my Senators for being good partners in securing funding for our shared priorities”

“From investing in infrastructure to expanding access to affordable housing, health care, and workforce development, these projects will help address key issues impacting Minnesotans on a daily basis,” said Sen. Klobuchar. “I am proud to have worked with local leaders to secure funding for these projects that will make our communities stronger and safer.”
