Washington, D.C.  – Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) released the following statement after President Biden’s Joint Address to Congress:

“Tonight, we heard President Biden echo his promises of bipartisanship and collaboration, but in his nearly 100 days in office, his actions have shown his true lack of interest in actually building consensus.

“Despite his claims to the contrary, President Biden’s proposals are in line with a radical agenda that will increase costs, destroy jobs, grow government, and make the United States less competitive. Instead of working to foster bipartisanship, the Biden Administration has chosen to go it alone, adopting trillions in spending aimed at scoring political points rather than targeting relief to the areas of greatest need. Doubling down with a partisan wish list that includes trillions more in additional spending, while forcing our family farms and businesses to bear the brunt of the cost, is no way to rejuvenate our economy.

We have a lot of work to do to help our country emerge from this pandemic. I am hopeful we can find a way to come together during the 117th Congress and address the issues facing our nation and the American people.”
