Speaker Pelosi Names Bonamici to 2nd Term on House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis

January 27, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC [1/27/21] – Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) to serve on the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis for a second term.

"It is an honor to continue serving on the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis as we implement meaningful policies to build back better," said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. "We have the opportunity and the imperative to take immediate action to reduce emissions, create good-paying jobs, support a just transition, and strengthen the resilience of our communities. As the granddaughter of a coal miner, I know that the way we transition to a clean energy economy and support workers is just as important as the transition itself.

"Last year I joined my colleagues on the Select Committee in introducing our Climate Action Plan, a bold, science-based roadmap to reach net-zero emissions no later than mid-century and net-negative thereafter. I'm eager to continue working with my colleagues and the Biden-Harris Administration to advance our framework to boost our economic recovery, begin to repair the legacy of environmental racism, and make sure that every person has access to clean air and clean water."

Bonamici championed many of the ocean climate action, labor, clean energy research and development, and resilience provisions in the Climate Action Plan. More details about the Congresswoman's leadership can be found here.
