Arrington Spotlights Latest Achievements for Dyess Air Force Base

ABILENE, TX – Today, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) hosted a press conference in Abilene to provide an update on the important investments and safeguards for Dyess Air Force Base secured in the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY2023) National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Specifically, the House-passed NDAA included:

  • $22 million for B-1 hypersonic integration.
  • $3.3 billion for the B-21 Long Range Strike Bomber.
  • Prohibition on B-1 retirements for an additional three years (2026).

“While securing a B-21 fleet at Dyess is one of my proudest achievements, a seamless transition from the B-1 to the B-21 is imperative. The FY2023 NDAA has several important provisions that will keep the B-1 fleet lethal and viable, ensuring uninterrupted American air dominance across the globe,” said Rep. Arrington. “I will continue to do my part to make sure America’s fighting force remains the best in the world so we can have a country that is safe, secure, and free.”

Abilene Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Doug Peters commended Rep. Arrington for his leadership.

“We appreciate Congressman Jodey Arrington’s long-standing commitment to our community and Dyess Air Force Base and the ability to mutually communicate opportunities to preserve and strengthen the Dyess mission. Congressman Arrington has been with the Chamber and its MAC every step of the way, and this visit couldn’t be more timely or appreciated,” Peters said. “We are pleased to continue our work together to ensure that Dyess, its airmen, and their families are strong, and that the future of Abilene business and our air base are preserved and protected.”
