Burgess Votes to Support the Second Amendment

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support of H.J. Res. 44, to provide congressional disapproval of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) rule that would essentially ban stabilizing braces.

“The Second Amendment protects the rights of all Americans, not just those who are physically capable,” said Burgess. “This rule would prohibit wounded veterans or retired police officers from the use of a firearm. The Obama Administration even ruled against this action. This is just another example of how this administration is continuing to ignore the rights of Americans and push forward a partisan agenda.”
