Demand the Wisconsin DNR Reinstate the Wolf Hunt Now

Hunter Nation Calls on Wisconsin Hunters to Speak Out Before Radical Anti-Hunting Groups Block Much-Needed Hunt

Madison, Wisconsin (January 11, 2021) - Today Hunter Nation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting America’s hunting heritage, issued a call to action to all Wisconsin hunters, encouraging them to attend the Joint Committee on Sporting Heritage’s hearing this Wednesday on reinstating the wolf harvesting season in 2021.

“The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is delaying the wolf harvesting season despite the fact that there are more than 1,000 strong, smart and vicious gray wolves across the state,” said Luke Hilgemann, President of Hunter Nation. “Meanwhile, anti-hunting groups have vowed to sue and use all legal maneuvers necessary to block the delisting of the gray wolf. Wisconsin hunters must stand up, speak out and demand the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reinstate the wolf harvesting season now or the wolf may again be under federal protection before a hunting season can be held.”

On January 13, 2021, the Senate Committee on Sporting Heritage, Small Business and Rural Issues, and the Assembly Committee on Sporting Heritage will hold a joint informational hearing on reinstating the wolf harvesting season in 2021. Hunter Nation will be in attendance, along with Hunter Nation Wisconsin members, to testify in support of an immediate wolf harvesting season.

Last year, Hunter Nation launched a nationwide grassroots campaign, engaging over 5,000 outdoorsmen and women to contact their legislator in support of Senate Bill 3140, which required the Secretary of the Interior to issue a final rule relating to the delisting of the gray wolf under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
