Rep. Yvette Herrell has issued a statement regarding the recent alleged rape of a young woman in Missoula, Montana by an Afghan man brought to the United States after the withdraw of troops from Afghanistan.

She provided the following statement:

This horrific attack is just the latest in an outrageous series of assaults by Afghan nationals on American soil that underscore the importance of proper vetting for anyone we bring to our nation," said Rep. Herrell. "The Biden administration continues to stonewall Congress about its lack of thorough vetting, preferring to endanger women and girls rather than fix the problems it has created by flying in over 100,000 Afghans without proper safeguards. Every American town has the right to prevent rapists and violent criminals from being dumped into their community by the federal government. My prayers are with the young lady and her family, and I will continue to fight for the transparency and accountability necessary to prevent future assaults.

The incident in Montana follows the assault of a female US soldier by multiple Afghan men at Fort Bliss in New Mexico, as well as the sexual assault of a child and spousal abuse by two Afghan men at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin.
