Week in Review

Happy Good Friday! Today, we are united in prayer as we reflect on His sacrifice. May the grace of the Lord surround and be with you and your families.

Arkansas Strong

My fellow Arkansans have been especially on my mind and in my prayers this week. The severe storms and tornadoes that rolled through our home state left the Third district with minimal damage, but as we’ve seen, other parts of Arkansas were heavily impacted and, tragically, lives were lost. We can’t prevent these heartbreaking events, but we are in control of our response. I’m proud to have seen Arkansans band together in this time of need and come out stronger.

Strengthening Alliances Abroad

I had the great honor of traveling to the Republic of Singapore with Senator Boozman to shake the hands of our allies and thank them for trusting Ft. Smith to be the home of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mission that will bring F-35 fighter planes and Singapore’s F-16 squadron to Ebbing Air National Guard Base.

The FMS program will train military personnel from allied nations on the only fifth-generation fighter jet in the world. Also, Ft. Smith will host the 425th Fighter Squadron, a Republic of Singapore F-16 Fighting Falcon training unit currently based at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. I am proud AR-3 was deemed the best location for this critical mission and I’m looking forward to welcoming the new U.S. Air Force personnel to the River Valley.

Also, during the trip, we met with the Republic of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Singaporean government leaders in trade, national security, the Chief of the Air Force, and visited U.S. military personnel deployed to the area. Developing and strengthening our strategic partnerships with our friends abroad is crucial to ensuring global security.

District Update

Art Competition

Calling all AR-3 high schoolers! My Rogers and Ft. Smith offices are now accepting applications for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. This nationwide contest is an opportunity for Arkansas students to showcase their creative and artistic talents. The winning submission from each congressional district will be displayed in the halls leading to the U.S. Capitol for one year.

In my office, submissions will also be considered for the People’s Choice Award, which will be decided by the public via online vote, and the Patriot Award, which honors a piece that celebrates and artfully represents American ideals.

For more information on how to apply, please visit my website here.
