Around the District

Arkansas’ Third is ground zero for opportunity. The great people and organizations within our community that ensure our corner of the Natural State is an incredible place to grow a business and raise a family. It’s always a pleasure to be home to see the work in action!

Tour of General Pallets and Crates

Image

I got to see firsthand the new sustainable pallet system called the Hive on my visit to General Pallets and Crates. Werner Hugo, the President and Owner, told me how this system is intended to revolutionize the shipping industry. The corrugated pallet features patented core blocks, making it lighter than wood pallets, yet able to carry up to 2,000 pounds!

It’s always impressive to see the innovative work going on in the River Valley region. General Pallets & Crates has a combined history of over 90 years of manufacturing and sales, with plans to grow from 75 people to 100 people by 2026.

Tour of Community Services Clearinghouse

Image

I was happy to be put to work at Community Services Clearinghouse (CSC) as soon as I arrived! Executive Director Tami Kuhns showed me how to pack meals for students—something they do each week for their Meals for Kids Backpack Program. This incredible group ensures over 2,400 kids have food over the weekend in five counties in Arkansas. Their work doesn’t stop there—CSC serves food as a food pantry providing for families on a weekly and monthly basis.

On my visit, we packed 250 meals that were distributed to schools in Fort Smith today! Teamwork sure does make the dream work! I’m incredibly grateful for the service and support CSC provides for our youth and people in need. It’s organizations like this that make Arkansas’ Third special.

Celebrating 90 Years of Girls Inc. of Fort Smith

What an honor and a privilege it was to be among a group of such incredible and inspiriting people at the Girls Inc. 90th Anniversary Celebration. Girls Inc. has dedicated itself to serving girls in our community for nearly a century, changing lives for the better each year that passes. Their holistic approach of developing young women empowers each girl to follow her dreams and tackle life’s challenges with resilience. I know that Girls Inc. Fort Smith will continue to inspire, empower, and uplift generations of girls for years to come!

Springdale Municipal Campus Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Image

It was a great day for Springdale! The brand new, state-of-the-art municipal campus is complete. It was a pleasure to join the ribbon cutting ceremony today to celebrate. All services for the people of Springdale are now under one roof, with quality production and enhanced safety measures to keep everyone safe and secure. Expanding this campus was necessary to meet the needs of our growing community, and it couldn’t have turned out better.

Northwest Arkansas is growing the way that it is because of the exciting entrepreneurial spirit that is recognized and promoted by community leaders. Congratulations to Mayor Doug Sprouse and his team for getting the job done for Springdale!

Celebrating Russ Daniel of McLarty Daniel Automotive’s Career

Image

Russ Daniel of McLarty Daniel Automotive has had a remarkable career that goes beyond his work in the auto industry. It’s evident that his hard work led to a booming business. But even more important than his personal success was his commitment to giving back. Helping others drove him to the car business.

Whether it was helping customers get the car that best suited their family, investing in his employees’ development or partnering with community organizations, Northwest Arkansas is better off because of his work to go above and beyond the status quo. It was an honor to celebrate his retirement and wish him the best on his exciting next chapter in life!
