Week in Review

Around the District

This past week, I had the chance to do what I love most—visiting with the great people of Arkansas’ Third District!

Touring La-Z-Boy Manufacturing

I had a great visit with Neil Erter, Plant General Manager at La-Z-Boy, and his team at their manufacturing facility in Siloam Springs earlier this week. This manufacturing facility has over 50 years of business under its belt and has produced more than 9 million pieces of furniture! They’ve also awarded over $2 million in community support grants that directly invest in local communities.

I’m proud that Arkansas’ Third is home to hardworking, good-hearted people and booming businesses like La-Z-Boy!

Congratulating Benton County’s Farm Family of the Year

Image

I had the honor of presenting the Fletcher family with the 2024 Benton County Farm Family of the Year award! They operate a farm with 450 head of cattle on 2,500 acres. Their farm has been in the family for three generations, and it’s still going strong!

It was an honor to be part of the celebration to recognize them for their excellent work on their farm and in our community. Congratulations to the Fletcher Family!

Visiting with Mercy Hospital Personnel

Image

Our healthcare heroes work around the clock to keep Arkansans healthy and care for those in need. I visited Mercy Hospital Berryville to meet with their team, tour the facility, and discuss the Community Project Funding I secured in the FY25 Agriculture Appropriations bill for an MRI unit.

Image

Currently, the hospital does not have an MRI unit and patients must travel far and wide to larger hospitals outside of Berryville to receive the care they need. Additionally, Mercy Berryville is a part of the first ever Rural Training Program (RTP) and will have RTP family practice residents beginning in July. An MRI unit will improve the training of the physician residents. This district-directed funding will ensure Berryville’s easy access to top-notch care and services!

Join me for a Telephone Town Hall!

A whole lot has been happening on Capitol Hill that impacts Arkansas, our nation, and the world. I will be hosting a Telephone Town Hall to update you, answer your questions, and listen to your thoughts about the work we are doing in Washington.

Receiving feedback from people like yourself is always a pleasure and allows me to effectively represent the Third District!

What: Telephone Town Hall with Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3)

When: Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. CT

How: Dial 833-380-0719

Looking Ahead

Next week, Congress is back in full swing to fulfill our fundamental duty of responsibly funding the government. The House will vote on 3 of the 12 annual appropriations bills, all focused on defending America: the Homeland Security bill, the State and Foreign Operations bill, and the Defense bill. If you remember, each of these passed out of the Appropriations Committee last week.

The Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee on Appropriations will mark up the Fiscal Year 2025 bill I drafted as Chairman of the Subcommittee next week. This bill has significant impacts on our state and district, prioritizing the vital infrastructure, transportation, and housing needs while safeguarding hard-earned taxpayer dollars. I will be sure to keep you updated as things progress!

Have a great weekend ahead, and I hope to see you around! Be sure to check out my websiteTwitter, and Instagram pages in the meantime.
