The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
Taking the First Step to Enacting President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Policy Priorities
This week, I voted to advance H. Con. Res. 14, the FY25 Budget Resolution. Last November, the American people gave Republicans a mandate to reduce out-of-control government spending, secure our borders, and reignite economic growth. Passage of this resolution allows Congress to proceed with enacting President Trump’s tax cuts, provides necessary resources for border security and mass deportations, and requires significant budget cuts to bend the spending curve down.
The next steps involve work in committees and with the Senate to advance President Trump’s agenda. I’ll keep you posted.

No Tax Dollars for Terrorists
I participated in a press conference hosted by Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN) on his legislation to prohibit the United States from using taxpayer dollars to fund terrorist groups. Our taxpayer dollars have been wasted and sent around the world, often bankrolling America's enemies.
Rep. Burchett’s No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act will ensure that Americans' hard-earned wages will not fund our adversaries. As an original cosponsor of this legislation, I urge swift action and passage of this bill so it can be signed into law by President Trump. Attending Night of Hope to Stand Against Human Trafficking
It was an honor to attend and speak at Night of Hope in Tempe.
Arizona’s law enforcement officers and officials will always remain committed to combating human trafficking.

Speaking at the National AMBER Alert and AMBER Alert in Indian Country Symposium
I spoke to attendees of this year’s National AMBER Alert and AMBER Alert in Indian Country Symposium.
During my first congressional term, I worked alongside the late Senator John McCain on legislation to extend the AMBER Alert program to Native American reservations—the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act was ultimately signed into law by President Trump.
It was an honor to see and speak alongside my friend Pamela Foster, a tireless advocate for the implementation of improved AMBER Alert programs across the country. Pamela’s daughter, Ashlynne Mike, was abducted and murdered in 2016 on the Navajo Reservation. At the time, the AMBER Alert system wasn’t consistent across reservations, creating a delay in notifying the public of Ashlynne’s abduction.
After Ashlynne’s death, Pamela began leading grassroots efforts to establish AMBER Alert in Indian Country, ensuring tribes could become full partners in the AMBER Alert system. I invited Pamela to President Trump’s State of the Union address in 2018 where she had the opportunity to urge lawmakers to support the AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act.. She received the Champion Award by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for her advocacy and efforts to encourage Native American communities to adopt AMBER Alert plans and develop programs to protect children from predators.
I remain committed to protecting our nation’s children, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to speak on this important issue.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Activity
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing titled “The Government Accountability Office’s 2025 High Risk List.” Federal government programs created and funded by Congress must fulfill their intended purpose and meet mission objectives. However, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has outlined in detailed reports to Congress that bloated federal programs have failed to meet their responsibilities and are vulnerable to waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement.
GAO’s 2025 High Risk list identifies the 37 highest risk areas for waste, fraud, and abuse across the federal government, and includes recommendations to reduce improper payments and improve financial management within areas like the Department of Defense and the Medicaid program. Congress must take steps to rein in federal spending by requiring or incentivizing betterfinancial management practices within federal agencies. Click the image below to hear my line of questioning:

The Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs held a hearing titled, “Emerging Global Threats: Putting America’s National Security First.” My colleagues and I discussed how the Trump Administration is actively restoring America’s standing on the global stage after four years of weak and ineffective foreign policy perpetrated by the Biden Administration. The weakness on the world stage emboldened our geopolitical rivals—China and Russia continue to attack U.S. critical infrastructure with few consequences. House Judiciary Committee Activity
I chaired a Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance hearing titled “Protecting Victims of Human Trafficking and Online Exploitation.” Human trafficking—specifically sex trafficking—is a heinous crime that continues to plague American communities. Efforts by federal, state, and local law enforcement and advocates to eliminate human trafficking and support victims have increased awareness, reporting, and prosecution of sex traffickers across the country. Traffickers use force, fraud, and coercion to sexually exploit their victims and in many cases force them to commit other crimes. Almost all 50 states passed legislation to support victims of human trafficking, and the Committee is examining what steps can be taken on the federal level to protect survivors.
Committee Democrats brought in Jean Bruggeman, the Executive Director of Freedom Network USA, as their witness. Freedom Network advocates for open borders and the full decriminalization of prostitution, two factors that largely contribute to the expansion of human trafficking in the U.S. 90% of Freedom Network’s funding comes from U.S. taxpayers. Click the image below to watch some of my interaction with Ms. Bruggeman:

I participated in the Constitution and Limited Government Subcommittee’s hearing titled “‘Subject to the Jurisdiction Thereof’: Birthright Citizenship and the Fourteenth Amendment.” The Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause was not intended to confer birthright citizenship to the children of illegal aliens or legal aliens who are in the United States temporarily. But incorrect implementation has created a warped incentive for pregnant foreign nationals to enter the United States for the sole purpose of giving birth here and conferring citizenship to their children. This heavily impacts our border area hospitals.
The city of Yuma, Arizona, has one hospital for 150,000 people; the hospital has a small maternity unit—about 8 to 10 beds. It’s not a rare occurrence that every single bed in the maternity ward is taken by a woman illegally present in the United States for the express purpose of birth tourism. President Trump’s recent Executive Order on birthright citizenship is consistent with Supreme Court case law, and Congress must codify his efforts to revert to the correct interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Judiciary Committee also held a markup and favorably passed the following legislation out of committee:
Team Biggs Meets with Alzheimer’s Association
This week, members of my staff met with representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association and residents of the Fighting Fifth to discuss the latest Alzheimer’s research, treatment developments, and care.
