The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

Honoring the Life of Arizona Trooper
Killed in Line of Duty

I attended the memorial service for Arizona Trooper Paramedic Hunter R. Bennett from Gilbert, who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash while providing support during an active shooting.

I am deeply sorry for his loss and am forever grateful for his service to Arizona. Hunter stepped forward when others needed help, and he never hesitated to do what was required to keep Arizonans safe.

We grieve with his family, pray for his loved ones, and commit to remembering the sacrifice he made in the line of duty.

President Trump Delivers the First State of the Union of His Second Term

On Tuesday, I attended President Trump’s historic State of the Union speech– my last as a member of Congress. It was a privilege to shake the President’s hand after he delivered his remarks. Click below to watch the video:

The address outlined the significant progress the Trump Administration has made over the past year and reaffirmed his commitment to policies and priorities that put American citizens first, such as securing the border, lowering inflation, and making communities safer.

I have been a leader on these issues throughout my time in Congress, and I have introduced legislation to advance these priorities. I will continue fighting to ensure the American people see lasting, structural change–not only temporary executive actions. I urge House Leadership to quickly move my bills that align with his priorities.

Commending the Designation of February 23 as Angel Families Day

President Donald Trump designated February 23 as Angel Families Day, honoring the American families whose loved ones were killed by criminal illegal aliens.

For years, I’ve stood alongside Angel Families in their pursuit of justice and accountability. Grant’s Law, legislation named in honor of Grant Ronnebeck, a 21-year-old Arizonan who was murdered by an illegal alien, was one of the first bills I introduced when taking office in 2017, and I’ve reintroduced it each session since. The bill seeks to ensure that criminal illegal aliens are detained and deported, not released back into American communities.

I’ve also worked closely with Arizona Angel Family members like Steve Ronnebeck, Grant Ronnebeck’s father, and Mary Ann Mendoza, whose son Sergeant Brandon Mendoza was killed by an illegal alien driving under the influence. Their advocacy has been instrumental in elevating the human cost of open-border policies and pushing for meaningful reform.

I remain committed to advancing policies that restore the rule of law, protect Arizona communities, and prevent other families from enduring similar tragedies.

Angel Families Day is a solemn reminder that border security is not a political talking point—it is a matter of life and death. I commend President Trump and the White House for recognizing these families and honoring the memory of the Americans we have lost, and I extend my deepest condolences to all those affected by crimes committed by illegal aliens.

We must permanently secure our border, enforce our laws, and ensure that criminal illegal aliens are detained and deported. The safety of American citizens must always come first.

National Slam the Scam Day

March 5th is National Slam the Scam Day, a time dedicated to raising awareness of, and preventing, government imposter scams. Each year, thousands of Americans fall victim to coordinated fraud schemes, sometimes costing them millions of dollars.

Fortunately, these scams are preventable, especially if we take the time to educate ourselves on how to detect suspicious activity. Click on the below links from the Social Security Administration (SSA) and its Office of the Inspector General to learn more about how to protect you and your loved ones:
