The Week in Review
Happy Friday!

TOMORROW: Military Service Academy Conference
I will be hosting a Military Service Academy Conference Saturday, March 21st, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Benjamin Franklin High School in Queen Creek.
Liaisons from local ROTC programs as well as the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force, Merchant Marine, and Coast Guard Academies will discuss military service and career opportunities. My staff will be on-site to discuss the application and nomination process.

Condemning the House’s Failure to Adopt Balanced Budget Amendment
This week, the House of Representatives failed to adopt H.J.Res. 139, my Balanced Budget Amendment.
Washington had a choice: restore fiscal sanity or continue down the reckless path of endless spending and generational theft. Unfortunately, too many chose the latter.
For decades, both parties have talked about fiscal responsibility while racking up trillions in debt and passing the bill to our children and grandchildren. My Balanced Budget Amendment was a straightforward, common-sense solution to force Congress to do what every American family must do: live within its means.
The failure of this amendment is a stark reminder that there is no political will to rein in spending in Washington. Instead of making the tough decisions today, Congress continues to kick the can down the road, fueling inflation, weakening our economy, and threatening America’s long-term stability.
Despite this week’s setback, I will never stop fighting to restore fiscal discipline, rein in out-of-control spending, and put our nation back on a sustainable path. The American people demand a government that is accountable, responsible, and committed to protecting their future—not bankrupting it.

Applauding Resolution Copper’s Historic Land Exchange with the U.S. Forest Service
After years of working with the U.S. Forest Service and Resolution Copper to facilitate a copper deal, I am pleased that the two parties have reached an agreement to complete a federal land exchange that will open the world’s second-largest undeveloped copper deposit in Arizona.
This decision puts our state at the forefront of copper development and is sure to boost our economy, provide long-term conservation and recreational opportunities at home, and support U.S. national security efforts.
Thank you to everyone involved in brokering this historic deal.
Celebrating the House’s Unanimous Passage of the North Rim Restoration Act of 2025
I am grateful to cosponsor Representative Eli Crane’s North Rim Restoration Act of 2025, which unanimously passed the House this week.
The legislation would expedite the rebuild of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which was destroyed in last year’s Dragon Bravo Fire, by streamlining the federal contracting process.
I urge my Senate colleagues to vote yes on this bill. Northern Arizona’s tourism industry, small businesses, and gateway communities depend on it.
Voting to Advance Legislation to Deport Illegal Alien Fraudsters
I voted to pass H.R. 1958, The Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026, which passed the House by a vote of 231-186. This bill will hold illegal aliens accountable for their actions by making the act of defrauding the United States government or stealing benefits intended for U.S. taxpayers a deportable offense, and making illegal aliens who commit or admit to committing this crime ineligible to re-enter the U.S.
I spoke on the House Floor in favor of the bill. Click the image below to watch some of my remarks:
