TRUE Accountability Act
UNANIMOUSLY Passes the House

Billions of dollars of your hard-earned money are lost annually by the federal government during times of crisis or emergencies thanks to endless fraud. Fortunately, my True Accountability Act, which UNANIMOUSLY passed the U.S. House of Representatives this week, changes that problem. This legislation requires federal agencies to develop plans to prevent fraud during an emergency, something Democrats AND Republicans clearly agree on, as evidenced by this vote.

I am grateful to Representative Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) for his partnership on this bill. It’s time for the Senate to pass it so we can send a message to American taxpayers that their government officials are serious about safeguarding their dollars.

Putting Patients First with New
 Right to Try Legislation

I introduced the Right to Try for Individualized Treatments Act with Representative Diana Harshbarger (VA-01) as an extension of the Right to Try Act of 2017. The first Right to Try bill was signed into law during President Trump’s first term to allow terminally ill individuals to take advantage of groundbreaking new treatments when other options have failed. My newly proposed legislation adapts this same patient-first framework for a new era of precision medicine.

Over the years, Right to Try has been instrumental in giving hope and power to terminally ill patients who otherwise would have none. I am honored to be one of Congress’s leading voices on this important issue. It was one of the first bills I sponsored when I joined Congress, and it is one of the last I will advocate for before my retirement from the House in January.

Arizona Delegation Submits Copper Pennies to Congressional Time Capsule

I was pleased to join the Arizona Delegation in submitting copper pennies to the Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule, which will remain sealed in the Capitol Visitor Center until July 4, 2276, the nation’s 500th anniversary.

Copper is one of Arizona’s famous “5 Cs” and can be found throughout the state. We also produce roughly seventy percent of the country’s copper output per year, contributing substantially to our national economy and infrastructure. I cannot think of a better item to represent Arizona for years to come than a copper penny.

Congratulations to the Republicans on our sixth straight win!

Last Week's Quiz Results

Thank you to everyone who voted in last week’s quiz! The question was which Trump Administration official did I recently meet with in Arizona?

If you were one of the 54% of participants who selected Director Sara Carter, you are correct! The Drug Czar and I traveled through Arizona together to learn how we can confront the deadly drug crisis harming families in our communities.
