Fighting Medicaid Fraud

I’ve co-sponsored the Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act to require states to strengthen their efforts to identify and combat fraud, waste, and abuse in their Medicaid programs. The legislation follows a recent warning from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that Arizona was one of eight states reporting “zero fraud referrals and overpayments recovered in Medicaid managed care.” Additionally, Arizona’s governor has been informed that the state has failed to comply with the federal Single Audit deadline for four consecutive fiscal years, putting the state’s federal share of Medicaid dollars at risk.

I’m pleased to co-sponsor this bill to establish a clear baseline for states to identify fraud, recover improper payments, and correct deficiencies in their Medicaid programs. Arizona officials must take these responsibilities seriously. Taxpayers deserve accountability, and continued failures in oversight risk both federal funding and the public’s trust.

Protecting Against Environmental Overreach

Last week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin convened a roundtable to announce a major development regarding air quality regulations in Maricopa County. The soon-to-be-finalized emissions rule would provide businesses with greater flexibility to build and expand production while ensuring that overall emissions do not increase.

This announcement is welcome news for those of us who understand that protecting our environment and promoting economic growth are not mutually exclusive. We can pursue responsible environmental stewardship without crushing businesses and families in one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation.

Standing with Taiwan

Earlier this month, I was honored to help celebrate the opening of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Phoenix - another significant milestone in the relationship between Arizona and Taiwan.

As a member of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus, I have long valued the relationship between the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan. May this new office serve as a bridge between our people, businesses, and communities for many years to come.

Cutting Taxes for Everyday Arizonans

Over the past decade, I’ve voted for two major tax-cut packages to put more money back in the pockets of American families, workers, and small business owners. These tax cuts help Americans keep more of what they earn, give businesses more room to grow, and unleash the power of the free market.

Washington should live within its means, not stand in the way of American prosperity. I’ll keep working to lower the tax burden, rein in government spending, and build an economy where hardworking Americans can get ahead. There’s more work to do before this Congress ends.

Meetings and District Events

ImageThis week, Team Biggs visited the Mesa Gateway Airport, located in the heart of AZ-05. During my time in Congress, I have worked closely with the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure the completion of a new air traffic control tower, which has helped bolster recruiting, training, and retainment efforts. It has been a pleasure to work with Mesa Gateway and play a role in its growth over the years!

ImageImageTeam Biggs also toured two of the valley’s most prominent radio stations, KTAR and iHeartRadio. It was great to meet with their hardworking teams and learn more about the vital role they play in Arizona communities, from delivering top-notch entertainment to providing critical emergency information to keep Arizonans safe. Thank you for hosting us!
