Dear Friend,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Last week was a busy one in Congress, as we debated and voted on Joe Biden’s massive social spending plan. I joined my Republican colleagues in opposing this outrageous legislation that would leave generations of American taxpayers responsible for paying the bill.
The Harsh Realities of Biden's Enormous Spending Bill
On Tuesday, I went to the House Floor and discussed the Democrats’ social spending bill, or what they call their “Build Back Better” legislation. During my speech, I laid out the facts of this bill and the consequences it will have for our economic future.
To be clear, this bill is full of outrageous spending, and contrary to what President Biden says, it is not paid for. Rather, the price will fall to our children’s generation, and they will unfortunately be the ones to pay the price.
Remarks From Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy
On Friday, my friend and colleague, Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, brought attention to a handful of issues that are near to my heart during his floor speech against Biden's extreme spending package.
I appreciate his kind words and commend his efforts to shed light on the unfortunate truths of the Biden bill, which will hurt so many hard working Americans.
National Valley Fever Awareness Week
Last week, in recognition of National Valley Fever Awareness Week, Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and I got together to bring attention to the issue of Valley Fever.
As Representatives respectively from Arizona and California - which are both disproportionately affected by Valley Fever - it is tremendously important that together we do our part here in Congress to help the general public better understand this orphan disease. By promoting investments in research expansion and new disruptive technology, we may finally be able to cure this endemic fungal disease one and for all.
We are in the midst of major breakthroughs for Valley Fever, and it is more important now than ever before that we do not lose momentum. To watch the full video, click here.
Happy Thanksgiving
Joyce, Olivia, and I wish you a restful holiday ahead. I hope you are able to spend time with your family and friends this Thanksgiving.
I am thankful to all of Arizona's 6th district for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing each and every one of you.
Thank you for continuing to take the time to read my newsletter and stay up to date on the work I am doing at home and in Washington, D.C. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let my office be a resource for you.
Happiest of holidays,
David Schweikert
