Dear Friend,
The holiday season is an opportunity to spend time with your loved ones, and it is also a season filled with joy and hope. For all those who celebrated, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and I wish you the very best as we begin this New Year of 2022.
It was great to reflect on the past year and prepare for another year representing you in Congress. Please find an update below.
Thanking the Scottsdale Police
Scottsdale is home to one of the best police departments in the entire country - we are truly lucky to have such fine officers taking care of our community day in and day out. Last week, the Scottsdale PD received national recognition for their great service when they helped out a well-known resident. Click here to read more about it.
Announcing the 1st Place Winner of the Congressional App Challenge
Congratulations to Zubin Sidhu for earning first place for his app "Zubin's Dungeon Quest" which aims to incorporate education into games in a way that will keep its players interested and focused.
I would also like to extend a congratulations to the second place winners Justin Friedlander, Simer Singh and Arthur Stefanik for their app, "Price Doctor", which uses the users location to collect and compare the prices of various medical procedure across different nearby hospitals.
Lastly, I commend the third place winner Soham Samal for creating the app "TelePrep", an advanced-level educational preparatory test app that disseminates free education to students around the world.
It was remarkable to see so many students' creative and forwarding thinking ideas come to light during this challenge. Keep up the good work everyone!
Go Cardinals!
Congratulations to the Arizona Cardinals for their great win last night! They have officially secured a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2015, and that is no easy task. This team has been fun to watch all season, and they continue to make Arizona proud.
Vaccine Mandate For Private Businesses
As you may know, the Biden Administration has proposed vaccine mandates for all businesses with 100 or more employees. I wanted to give you a quick update on where this mandate currently stands:
- OSHA will not issue citations for businesses for noncompliance with any requirement before January 10. OSHA will not issue citations for noncompliance with any business before February 9 as long as that employer is putting forth a reasonable and good faith effort to come into compliance.
- The State of Arizona joined a coalition of eleven states that are legally challenging the mandate in the United States Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. Meaning the CMS mandate not in effect in AZ as it is in other states
- Supreme Court is hearing arguments this month on the business mandate and the CMS mandate.

Thank you for taking the time to read my weekly update. I always appreciate hearing your feedback. Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach my office.
Sincerely,
David Schweikert
