Dear Friend,
Happy Monday! I hope you had restful weekend.
I wanted to provide you with a brief update below of some recent noteworthy news and helpful dates for your own tax filing purposes in the new year.
Thank You To Our Law Enforcement Officers
Thousands of men and women throughout Arizona bravely serve our state as law enforcement officers. They put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and I am grateful for their selfless service. With yesterday marking Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, please join me in saying thank you to all of our law enforcement officers.
Dreadful December Jobs Report
On Friday, the Department of Labor issued the December jobs report. It showed that the U.S. economy added less than half the jobs economists predicted. The Biden Administration needs to take this news as a wake up call and realize their big government approach to the economy is not working.
We must create an economic environment that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship, not one that is centered around massive government spending plans that disincentivize work.
Tax Season Opens January 24th
The IRS has announced that the tax filing period this year will begin on January 24th. In their press release, they mentioned several ways to avoid delays in processing, and those can be found by clicking this link. Here are a few other notable items:
- Stimulus checks are not taxable
- If you have received your third stimulus, you need to file that on your tax return
- The due date for the filing period is April 18th
