I hope you had a nice weekend. Last week was busy in Washington and at home in Arizona. Below is an update of my recent priorities on behalf of the 6th district.

How To Help Ukraine

Myself and my team have been closely following the devastating events unfolding in Ukraine. I know that many of you have been following this awful situation too, and I have received numerous calls asking how to help the people of Ukraine in their time of need.

There are several local, state, federal and international government agencies and departments that are providing aid right now. Key information and guidance can be found on my website here. I’d like to highlight two additional links listed below:

My office has recently received a handful of inquiries about scammers pretending to raise money for Ukraine. I wanted to flag these potential risks and remind you to use caution when donating, to make sure your money is going to the right place. For helpful tips, please click here.

The Math Always Wins

On Thursday, I went to the House floor to shed light on the Democrats' policies that have crippled everyday citizens through their continued empty promises and impractical solutions.

My brothers and sisters on the left need to stop creating the illusion that their policies and virtue signaling are working. It's high time we start using the math to drive policy in Washington, because the math always wins.

In Person Meetings Make A Return

While Speaker Pelosi still has the Capitol and House office buildings largely closed to the public due to out of date Covid restrictions, I am pleased that we have been able to start welcoming visitors for official legislative business back in person on a limited basis. This is an overdue step to return the People’s House to normality.

It is clear that Congress and the general public are ready to return back to the pre-pandemic way of life. That is why I introduced The Pandemic Cessation Act to get the ball rolling. With vaccines and therapeutics readily available, there should be no reason to extend the Public Health Emergency Declaration Period any longer.

Attending The Saluting Stories of Service Event

It was great close out the week at the Saluting Stories of Service event to recognize the impressive legacies of so many American military members. I had the pleasure of speaking with retired Lt. Col Mike Sprayberry about how his years of selfless service and heroic actions earned him the Medal of Honor. I was thrilled to have my daughter Olivia come along too.

Schweikert Tax Tips!

The IRS will be facing backlogs this tax filing season, due to delays in processing from last year. I would like to provide you with some tax tips that the IRS has publicly shared. More information can be found on my website here:

• The filing deadline is April 18 for most taxpayers. There are currently no plans to extend the filing deadline.
• Tax filers are encouraged to file their taxes both electronically and as soon as possible, as individuals are still experiencing delays on last year's paper tax returns due to IRS's limited staffing amid the pandemic.
• People who received advance Child Tax Credit payments in 2021 need to ensure the amounts they've received are entered correctly on the 2021 tax return.
• All third-round Economic Impact Payments have been issued. People may claim any remaining stimulus payment they're entitled to on their 2021 tax return as part of the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit.
