District Update June 20, 2022

Dear ,

I hope you had a great weekend. Last week was eventful in both Washington, D.C. and back home in the 6th district. Below, please find an update of my most recent work in Congress. I would also like to wish all the great dads in our district a very happy Father's Day yesterday!

Under Unified Democratic Control, Raging Inflation Has Made Us Poorer

On Tuesday, I went to the House floor to highlight the impact inflation will continue to have on hard working Americans. The Democratic party continues to recklessly pursue policies that hurt family economic security, hinder small businesses, and threaten senior citizens’ retirement security. I will continue to call on my colleagues to pursue Republican-led bipartisan policies to push for economic growth and security.

You can watch the rest of my floor speech, here.

Biden Economy Shows Wages Dropping

Instead of crafting policies that are optimistic and focused on growing the economy, the Democrats have focused on storytelling. Now, 16 months after President Biden took office, we as a country are poorer than we were more than a year ago. Women overall have experienced a nearly 4% pay cut in the Biden economy, with Hispanic women’s pay dropping by nearly 5%.

It is long overdue for us to focus on the math and develop policy that creates prosperity. Click here to watch my speech at the Ways and Means Committee.

ESG Proposals Are Already Raising Energy Costs For American Families

I joined my colleagues in sending a letter to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler regarding the SEC's proposal that would require extensive climate change-related disclosures from public companies. The letter urges the SEC to rescind the proposal immediately and on focus on the SEC's statutory mission, not a far-left agenda item that intends on shutting down American energy, raising energy costs on families and worsening President Joe Biden's inflation crisis.

Deadline To Obtain A Real ID Is Next Year

Image

The Real ID program has had many delays due to COVID-19, but federal officials stated last month that the deadline is officially May 3rd, 2023. That means that anyone needing a Real ID for domestic air travel has just under one year to obtain one, and the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) is urging everyone to act sooner rather than later. If you would like to learn more about the Real ID program and how to obtain a voluntary Arizona Travel ID, please click here

Thank you for taking the time to read this update on my latest work in Washington, D.C. and the 6th District! If you have any comments or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to my office.

Sincerely,

David Schweikert
