Dear ,
I hope you and your family are doing well! I wanted to provide a few updates on my work this past week for the residents of Arizona’s First Congressional District.
Hardworking Americans Are Poorer Today Than They Were Two Years Ago

In my speech on the House Floor last week, I pointed out that working men and women in America are poorer today than the day President Biden took office two years ago. Congress must wake up to the reality that the inflationary policies that Congressional Democrats passed over the last two years have forced hardworking Americans to pay more for groceries at the store and gas at the pump. If we can get our policies right on everything from the most basic tax framework to adopting innovation, then we can once again have another great American century.
Listening to Small Business Owners at Ways and Means Field Hearing in Georgia
Click here or on the image above to view my remarks.
On Friday, I attended a Ways and Means Committee field hearing at an airplane parts manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia, where we heard from small business owners who said the biggest challenge they're facing is finding skilled workers who are willing to show up and learn the profession on a daily basis. When the prime working age population in America is the only age group expected to decline over the next 30 years, that means we have a long way to go to get our country back on track.
2023 Service Academies Conference Reminder

What I’m Reading & Why It Matters
This week, I'm reading an article in The Economist which dives into the underappreciated success story of the U.S. economy over the last 30 years. Our economy accounts for 58% of the G7's GDP, compared to 40% in 1990. Average incomes have also grown much faster than in western Europe or Japan. Take, for instance, the average income adjusted for purchasing power exceeds $50,000 in Mississippi, America's poorest state, which is still higher than the average income in France. Our country has the benefit of a large consumer market over which to spread the costs of research and development, and a deep capital market from which to raise finance. This has enabled our nation to continue to grow and outperform our global competitors in China and India.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update on my latest work in Washington, D.C. and Arizona’s First Congressional District! If you have any comments or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to my office.
Sincerely,
David Schweikert |
