Dear ,
I hope you and your family are doing well! I wanted to provide a few updates on my work this past week for the residents of Arizona’s First Congressional District.
Bidenomics Isn't Working

Recently, I joined Scripps News for a discussion on President Biden's economic plan and its negative impacts on the U.S. economy. There's no disputing that America's working class is poorer today than when President Biden took office. Remember the basic principles from your high school economics class — there are still too many dollars chasing too few goods and services.
The Congressional Budget Office now projects that the U.S. will borrow over $1.8 trillion this year alone, which is stunning considering we weren't supposed to reach borrowing costs that high for several more years.
Celebrating Independence Day
This Independence Day, I attended the Arcadia Fourth of July parade where I enjoyed connecting with our amazing community at the parade and getting to chat with folks about issues they're most concerned about, like high inflation, rising national debt, and protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare for our nation's seniors. I was proud to celebrate American independence with them and salute the generations of men and women who have served, fought, sacrificed to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Greeting This Summer's District Interns
Last week, I sat down with this summer's interns in my Scottsdale office to chat with them about their experience so far, what they hope to accomplish this summer, and career aspirations after college. I'm grateful for all their hard work serving the constituents of Arizona's First Congressional District, and I know that each of them has a bright future ahead!
Know Someone Who Deserves Congressional Recognition?
Do you know of a member of our community that is deserving of Congressional Recognition based on their hard work, accomplishments, or community service? If so, please take a moment to highlight them by requesting a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Arizona’s First Congressional District.
There are so many amazing businesses and volunteers who have gone above and beyond these last few months for our AZ-01 community. I want to recognize these individuals for their selfless actions and their daily deeds to improve our communities.
What I’m Reading & Why It Matters
This week, I'm reading an article in POLITICO on the efforts of several Native American tribes to assert their water rights over the Colorado River and utilize the infrastructure necessary to meet their water needs.
I'm also reading the IRS's annual Dirty Dozen list of tax scams for 2023 with a reminder for taxpayers, businesses and tax professionals to watch out for these schemes throughout the year, not just during tax season.
Lastly, I'm reading this post from the Baylor College of Medicine on a doctor's newly developed anti-fentanyl vaccine that produces antibodies to prevent fentanyl from entering the brain.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update on my latest work in Washington, D.C. and Arizona’s First Congressional District! If you have any comments or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to my office.
Sincerely,
David Schweikert |
