I want to start by wishing a very merry Christmas to all who celebrate. It's been a year filled with all kinds of twists and turns, and I hope that you are able to celebrate this day with rest and relaxation, and most of all, surrounded by your loved ones. That's what the holiday season is all about.
Christmas isn't just about celebrating the birth of Jesus, it's about rejoicing in God's love He showed when He came down in human form. This season, I encourage you to embrace your neighbors, family, and friends the way God so embraces us.
Like I mentioned above, we've had quite the year in Washington. Joyce and I luckily pulled off another magical Christmas, leaving us to see these bright, shining faces this morning. Christmas is never complete without matching pajamas.
Today also marks the first night of Hanukkah, in which the first candle on the menorah is lit. I am so grateful to have so many dedicated and faithful Jewish friends and colleagues in my communities. Just like the miracle of the oil, I have seen so many members of the Jewish faith remain resilient amidst all odds. Thank you for reminding me what it means to have hope.
