Updated Travel Advisory For Israel and the Conflict in the Middle-East

Image

If you or someone you know is traveling in the Middle East, I’m sharing critical updates to help navigate the current situation. The U.S. Department of State is assisting U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents with departure options amid ongoing regional tensions. Here’s what you need to know:

A State Department Crisis Intake Form is available for U.S. citizens in Israel and Iran to fill out should they need assistance.  Individuals or families in need of assistance will receive messages from CACMS@state.gov, and should monitor their enrolled email address, check their junk/spam folders or settings, and reply with the information requested as soon as possible when received.

● Israel/West Bank: Complete the Crisis Intake Form for departure assistance (only once, please). Take the first available option, even if it’s not your preferred destination. Third-party providers are helping some depart overland to Jordan/Egypt or by sea to Cyprus, and commercial ship options may be available—check local media.

● Iran: Submit the Crisis Intake Form for consular info, but direct U.S. departure assistance is limited. Depart via land to Azerbaijan, Armenia, or Türkiye if safe. Avoid Turkmenistan—borders are closed to U.S. citizens. U.S.-Iranian dual nationals need Iranian passports and may face checkpoints.

● Lebanon: Family members and non-emergency U.S. personnel have been ordered to leave due to volatility. Beirut Airport is open, but flights are limited—check Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport for options.

A Necessary Strike for National Security

Image

This past weekend, President Trump ordered U.S. forces to attack three locations in Iran that were essential to plans to develop nuclear weapons.

I fully supported this action as a necessary move to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. I believe that Iran’s nuclear ambitions represent an existential threat to the security and stability of the Middle East and our own national security.

I am hopeful that the Iranian regime realizes this attack is an indication of America’s unwavering resolve to stop their nuclear weapon program and decides to abandon their dangerous ambitions.

I have spoken about this in the past. There is intense concern with Iran possessing nuclear weapons. It would cascade into neighboring nations insisting that they too acquire such weapons.

Helping AZ-01 With Federal Agencies

Image

One of my greatest privileges as your Representative in Congress is advocating with federal agencies on behalf of AZ01 constituents. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance with the VA, Social Security, IRS, Medicare or other federal agency, my casework team in Scottsdale office is ready to assist you in navigating federal casework and constituent services. My staff is more than happy to work with constituents in need of guidance or support.

Recently, my staff assisted constituents with the Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service and Passport Services, here is what they said …

"I just wanted to thank you for helping me resolve the problem with my Social Security payment.  I promptly received it which really is unbelievable based on my experience with our government.  You certainly worked your magic, and I’m so appreciative.  Thank you!  Thank you!"  Roberta C of Phoenix

"Thank you very much for your assistance with the IRS. Without your help I am not sure I could ever have gotten by small business return resolved."  Gary H of Phoenix

“I received my replacement passport and cannot thank you enough for all your and the office’s help with this matter. It was truly refreshing to have such amazing customer service provided by your office when that is not typically the case with government agencies. You and your team are amazing, and I am grateful to have such great representation from Congressman Schweikert and his office."   Katherine E of Scottsdale

Summer Heat and Energy Expenditures

Image

With Arizona's summer heat driving up energy spending, I'm delighted to share a useful resource for AZ-01 families. SRP, APS, and Southwest Gas collaborated to create the home energy-savings checklist, which includes 26 easy tips for saving energy, lowering expenses, and keeping your house cool. This checklist includes information on local aid programs and weatherization services, as well as suggestions for minor changes and major enhancements.

Last week, my family and I braved the heat to walk a short stretch of the Arizona Trail, Matthew led the way without hesitation. If you're hitting the trails this summer, stay hydrated and hike smart. You can find resources on how to enjoy our beautiful state and stay safe HERE

The 2025 Social Security Trustee Report

Last week, the Social Security Trustees report was published and the news is beyond scary. Unfortunately, it is not unsurprising. By 2033, the Social Security trust fund will be depleted, resulting in a 23% cut to benefits and twice the amount of senior in poverty.

Here are the updated projections:

  • Long-term deficit as percentage of taxable payroll worsened from 3.50% to 3.82%
  • Unfunded obligations rose from $22.6 trillion to $25.1 trillion
  • The ratio of workers per beneficiary is reaching values closer to 2:1
  • 1 out of 40 simulations would have the insolvency date after 2040, while last year was 1 out of 10

The report attributes the decaying outcomes to three things:

  1. The repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset
  2. Lower labor compensation compared to GDP
  3. Lower long-term fertility assumptions

We are headed full steam towards a very dark economic future for our seniors and for future beneficiaries. This crisis was created by demographics and it is time that Republicans and Democrats address it.

Better, Faster, Cheaper: How Innovation is Expanding Optimism for the Future

Image

Many of you know my fascination with innovation and the further implementation of technology into different facets of countless industries. Up-and-coming innovation is extensive, and luckily, there are thousands of scholarly studies and research pieces being released daily that expand on progress of these projects. Not enough members of Congress take the time to capitalize on how these innovative advancements actually promote the health and well-being of our society. This segment dives deeper into technological implementations that are actively making life better and cheaper for our brothers and sisters.

An open AI model could help medical experts to interpret chest X-rays

Researchers have developed an open-source AI foundation model designed to improve chest X-ray interpretation across diverse clinical settings. Trained on over 700,000 annotated radiographs, the model uses a cyclic knowledge accumulation method to refine its diagnostic accuracy continuously, including for rare and emerging diseases, all while avoiding the sharing of sensitive information. The ability to accurately diagnose without ethical concern is a major step for AI in clinical settings.

How artificial intelligence controls your health insurance coverage

Health insurance companies are increasingly using AI algorithms to determine coverage decisions. While insurers claim these tools streamline care and reduce waste, evidence suggests they frequently delay or deny medically necessary treatments. Unlike AI used in medical care, insurance algorithms are largely unregulated, raising serious ethical and legal concerns. For AI to thrive, we need to make sure that it actually contributes to innovation, instead of a way for insurers to guard their checkbooks.

NVIDIA Partners With Novo Nordisk and DCAI to Advance Drug Discovery

NVIDIA has partnered with Novo Nordisk and the Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI) to accelerate drug discovery using advanced AI and supercomputing. Novo Nordisk will leverage Denmark’s new supercomputer to develop AI models for molecule design, single-cell modeling, and biomedical language analysis. This level of AI integration could lead to massive cost savings and healthier patients.
