Tips for Summer Travels, and a New TSA Initiative

As summer travel peaks, I wanted to share some tips to ensure smooth airport experiences for Arizonans.
- Pack smart: Start with an empty bag, follow the 3-1-1 liquid rule, and use TSA's "What Can I Bring?" page to check what items are and aren't allowed.
- Arrive early: to account for parking, terminal navigation and security, it's recommended that you arrive 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international.
- Bring acceptable identification: Make sure that you have a REAL ID-compliant ID or another form of acceptable identification. If you do not a REAL ID, learn how to start the process HERE.
- Enroll in TSA PreCheck: PreCheck allows low-risk travelers to bypass certain aspects of the TSA process, and can be up to 20 minutes quicker than standard screening lines.
I also want to spotlight TSA's "Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease" initiative. The program introduces three major benefits for the U.S. military community:
- Gold Star families, those who have lost a loved one in military service, receive TSA PreCheck for free.
- A $25 discount on TSA PreCheck for military spouses.
- The addition of expedited TSA screening lanes for service members.
Passport Renewal
If your summer travel plans include going international, remember to check your passport. If it's time to renew your passport, here is some information on how:
- If your passport is undamaged, issued in the last 15 years, received after age 16, and has your current name, you can renew it by mail.
- If you need the process expedited, the fee is $60 and can take as little as two weeks

Hearing from our constituents is one of our top priorities, and our district office plays a vital role in serving your needs.
Last Tuesday, a major power outage temporarily disrupted our phone lines. Thanks to the swift response from the team at CenturyLink, service was quickly restored, and we were able to resume taking calls and assisting with casework.
We’re incredibly grateful for their fast action and commitment to helping us stay connected to the community.
