The 2026 Congressional Art Competition submission date is around the corner! The 2026 official rules, regulations and student release form are posted on my website, along with the winners from prior years, at 2026 Congressional Art Competition – Congressman Schweikert.

Students will need to complete TWO copies the 2026 Student release forms, one to turn in upon submission, the other to be attached to the back of their artwork. Artwork must be submitted at the Scottsdale Artists’ School at 3720 N Marshall Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, between 3 and 5pm on Monday, April 20th.

This is the only time available to submit their artwork. If students, parents, or teachers have any questions please contact Chris Wiley, of my District Office staff at (480) 946-2411.  I am looking forward to seeing the creativity of young artists in our community on display!

Joint Economic Committee April Debt Update

Image

As Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, I put out a monthly debt update because the debt math keeps getting worse. Total gross national debt is now $38.98 trillion. That is $2.77 trillion higher than a year ago and $10.90 trillion higher than five years ago. It is growing at $7.58 billion a day, and the burden now works out to $289,204 per household. On top of that, the average interest rate on marketable debt is 3.365 percent, net interest is projected to take 13.95 percent of federal outlays this fiscal year, and about 33 percent of publicly held marketable debt will mature within 12 months. We are rolling over enormous debt into a higher-rate world.

There is a way out, but it starts with telling the truth. We need to grow faster than the debt, use technology and data scientists to go after waste and fraud, keep taxes as low as possible, modernize regulation, and attack the price of health care. Math wins. Our job is to get serious before the bond markets do it for us. Read the full April debt update here

Service Academies Conference 2026

Image

Each year, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of students for scholarships to attend a military service academy. The U.S. Service Academies are among the most highly respected educational programs in the nation. To be admitted to an academy, applicants must meet stringent academic, physical and medical requirements specified by public law. As a cadet/midshipman at the academy, students will be provided a fully funded four-year college education. The honor of attending an academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

High school students interested in meeting with service academy liaisons and learning more about the 2026 academy application process, for Arizona’s First Congressional District, are encouraged to attend the academy liaison forum on April 25th at Veritas Preparatory Academy. Student’s RSVP and Registration here

For additional questions regarding the application process please refer to our academy resource guide and FAQ link below, or contact Chelsea Lett, Service Academy Coordinator, in my District Office at (480) 946-2411.

 Scheduling Congressional Tours Summer 2026

As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence later this summer, trips to our nation’s capital and requests for tours through our office are in exceptionally high demand. In an effort to be of assistance, I encourage you to review the tour options by visiting my tour website here. Although some tours do not open their booking portals until 90 days in advance, tour requests for this summer should be made as early as possible to allow my staff to review and assess your request in a timely manner.

Please note that White House tour approvals are subject to the White House’s scheduling and availability, and my office is currently running a waitlist for tours during the months of June and July. Be assured that my staff will make every effort to submit a request on your behalf for your selected dates. While we would like to accommodate all requests, we are unfortunately unable to guarantee each reservation.

To initiate your request, please visit schweikert.house.gov to complete and submit the tour request form. This form can be found under the “Tours and Tickets” dropdown in the Services tab on our website’s main menu. My office will follow up as soon as we have an update regarding your request. In the meantime, if your plans change or you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office at (202) 225-2190.
