A Weekly Note from Rep. Ciscomani.
Last week marked a productive week in the district. In the latter half of the week, Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ-04) and I led a visit to Arizona’s southern border with a bipartisan group of colleagues. Recently, Rep. Stanton and I introduced the Data for a Secured Border Act (H.R. 8015) to examine all possible solutions to the border crisis – just one of our joint efforts to secure the border.
It is imperative Arizonans educate Members on both sides of the aisle and across the country about the crisis at our southern border. Border security should never be a partisan issue, which is why I am dedicated to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to lead trips like this and introduce legislation to secure the border. Watch more from our trip. ⬇️

Across the aisle and across the border.
On Thursday and Friday, I met with different Cochise County officials to discuss the border crisis, visited with CBP officers at the Mariposa Port of Entry, and participated in a ride-along with Border Patrol agents. I will ALWAYS prioritize border security. While my bill last week did not pass, I will continue to introduce legislation and work with any willing partners to find solutions to this issue.
To further expand upon border security and immigration, we headed into Mexico for a visit to the U.S. Consulate General in Nogales as well as a tour of the Belden Maquiladora. Both of these visits provided an in-depth look into how border and immigration policies impact bilateral trade with Mexico. It's imperative my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and across the country hear directly from those who are impacted firsthand.

Joining our Jewish neighbors for Passover.
Earlier last week I attended a Passover Seder dinner to show my support for our Jewish neighbors. It was so special to gather with this community as they joined on this holy day. This year, too many families are commemorating Passover with empty seats at their table, missing loved ones held captive by Hamas.
Recently I was on the ground in Israel with a group of my colleagues to see and hear from the Israeli people, soldiers, and officials. We must stand in solidarity with Israel, support them in their time of need, and bring every hostage home.

Celebrating our natural landmarks.
At the beginning of this month, the Chiricahua National Monument celebrated 100 years as a national monument, receiving the designation on April 18, 2024. This is one of the most beautiful landmarks in our state and is a point of pride as it attracts visitors from across the world. I am deeply committed to preserving the natural beauty and historical treasures that our national parks and monuments represent. The government's role in safeguarding these areas ensures that they remain accessible to the public and that their unique features are preserved for generations to come.

In the News.
Rep. Ciscomani's border security bill fails to pass U.S. House, marking the latest deadlock in D.C.
Fronteras “Sponsored by Congressman Juan Ciscomani of southern Arizona — would have targeted those thought to be assisting cross-border smuggling or other crimes. By doing things like relaying information about the location of law enforcement or destroying a part of the border wall. It also would have imposed harsher charges against people who use a firearm while involved in those crimes.”
Local opinion: Faith played role in freeing over 100 people
Tucson.com
“Imagine more than 100 Jewish people being held hostage by radical Islamists. Imagine they are being tortured and beaten. Names such as Hamas and Bibi are part of the story. U.S. authorities and Arab countries are heavily involved in the negotiations, with the world watching closely what transpires.”
Stanton and Ciscomani lead bipartisan border trip
PunchBowl News “Reps. Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) and Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.) are leading a rare bipartisan trip to the U.S.-Mexico border today in search of solutions to the bitterly divisive issues of border security and immigration."
Arizona Reps. Ciscomani, Stanton to make bipartisan border visit. Why it's different
AZ Central
“U.S. Reps. Juan Ciscomani and Greg Stanton are leading a bipartisan two-day visit to the Arizona-Mexico borderlands that said will be different from other congressional visits to the border."
