A Weekly Note from Rep. Ciscomani.
We are officially three weeks into four straight weeks of in-session work in Washington, D.C. And like every other week, the last few days have been packed with activity. From speaking at Sahuaro High School’s honors ceremony on Monday to hosting a telephone townhall on Thursday night, there’s no shortage of things to report back on.
I'm so proud to have been ranked as the most bipartisan member from Arizona in the U.S. House by the Lugar Center. From the very beginning, my focus has been on delivering for our district, working to break through the gridlock in DC, and finding common ground.
For a full recap of the week’s activity, watch the #CiscomaniMinute!

Back The Blue.
Our district is home to thousands of police officers that put their life on the line for us every day. In honor of #NationalPoliceWeek, I met with officers from the Tucson Police Department in D.C. to discuss issues facing our law enforcement community. Their dedication to service and our community is truly outstanding.
As your Representative, I will always work to keep our communities safe and make sure our law enforcement officers have the tools they need to protect us. I will always #BackTheBlue.

Hearing from you.
On Thursday, I hosted a telephone townhall and spoke with constituents from across the district about the issues impacting our communities. We discussed the border crisis, heard from parents concerned about fentanyl and spoke to landowners experiencing damage to their property from migrant crossings. I appreciated the opportunity to talk about the impacts the crisis at our border has on our community, what I have done to tackle this crisis, and other pressing needs in our district. It was a great conversation, and I am grateful to all of you who took the time to join me.

Celebrating our 2024 graduates.
I started the week at Sahuaro High School in Tucson celebrating their graduating class and their amazing honors students! These students are the leaders and innovators of tomorrow and I am so proud of their achievements. No matter what their next steps are, they gained something that no one can ever take away – their education. I'm so proud of these students and their hard work.
And congratulations to all our graduates in Arizona’s 6th District! Hear my message to the class of 2024 here.

Delivering for AZ-06 veterans.
Last week, I was proud to introduce H.R. 8371, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, a comprehensive legislative package to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and ensure our veteran community is getting what they need – and what they deserve – from our country.
Alongside leadership from the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees, we crafted this bipartisan package to address the most pressing issues facing our veterans like economic opportunity, mental and physical health care and housing. One of these is the reauthorization of the VET-TEC program, an effort I introduced in March 2023. This is a highly successful pilot program that expands high-tech career opportunities for veterans and transitioning servicemembers, resulting in an 84% graduation rate and an average starting salary of over $66,000.
I joined House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Mike Bost to discuss this package – watch our conversation here.

#AZ06 In D.C.
Last week, I met with variety of groups from AZ-06 visiting Capitol Hill. On DAY, I spoke with 18 students from St. Anthony Catholic Middle School in Casa Grande to answer their questions about the federal government. They came prepared and I am excited to see what the future holds for them! I also met with the Pima Community College Workforce & Adult Education Team to discuss the Adult Education program & Short-Term Pell grant program. For so many, education is a pillar to the American Dream & these individuals are working to make that dream a reality.
One of my favorite things to do in Congress is meet with Arizonans visiting Washington, DC. Whether you are advocating for a cause or taking a trip to the nation’s Capital, we’d love to see you come by our office!

Profiles of the American Dream: John Lowe.
One of the truly amazing things about our community – and one of the defining characteristics of the American Dream – is the volunteer spirit. We’re generous with our time and see tremendous value in giving back.
John Lowe is a great example of that spirit. He’s 92-year-old and an active part of the Oro Valley Police Department’s Citizen Volunteer Assistants Program.
The key word in that last sentence is active. John was honored by the department recently for volunteering 6,620 hours – the equivalent of 275 days!
“I’ve been a server all my life,” John told the Explorer newspaper recently. “It’s very rewarding to me. It always has been.”
As a CVAP volunteer, John helps first responders with fingerprinting, directing traffic, assisting motorists, patrolling neighborhoods and assisting at special events like the town’s 50th anniversary parade.
People like John make our communities better places to live, work and raise a family. They are at the heart of the American Dream.
