Delivering for AZ-06.
Using my position on the House Appropriations Committee, I was able to preliminarily secure funding for 15 projects across the district, and last week I had the opportunity to see firsthand just where these funds would go.
On Tuesday, my family and I toured Sahuarita Police Department, which we provisionally secured over $800,000 for the department to obtain new radios. This funding will significantly enhance our law enforcement's ability to maintain clear communication during emergencies. I am always proud to support AZ-06's first responders and making sure they have the equipment they need to do their jobs is crucial to public safety. On Friday, I joined the City of Tucson for a tour of the Randolph Groundwater Treatment Facility and discussion on their water treatment and conservation strategy. The city may receive $1.75 million for the Northwest Reclaimed System Augmentation project, thanks to our request in the FY25 appropriations budget. This important funding will connect two reclamation facilities, improving water retention and reuse in Tucson.
It was fantastic to see firsthand the impact of these funds and how they will benefit our community. In total for FY25, I was able to provisionally secure $34 million for critical projects in all five counties in our district. Should these funds be signed into law, I will have secured $60 million for AZ-06 in my freshmen term in office.

Visiting the Caterpillar Proving Grounds.
Last Tuesday, my family and I visited the Tinaja Hills Demonstration & Learning Center at the Caterpillar Proving Grounds in Green Valley. Caterpillar is a leader in the manufacturing of mining equipment, an industry with deep roots in Arizona’s heritage and economy, so it was exciting to explore it firsthand. The experience was very educational for me and my family as we learned about the different machinery, seeing their work up close. We had a great time learning the ins and outs of mining and the role this equipment plays in the industry. A big thank you to the team at Caterpillar for hosting me and my family and providing such an informative and engaging experience!

Touring Sahuarita Food Bank and Resource Center.
Last week, my family and I toured the Sahuarita Food Bank and Resource Center. It was a great experience to see firsthand the incredible work being done to support our community. The center serves an impressive 350 to 450 families every week, providing not only healthy food options but also essential resources including a backpack program for students, providing weekend food bags to hundreds of nutritionally at-risk school students each year. This ensures that these children have meals to carry them through the weekend until returning to school and a daily lunch program. They also offer utility assistance, Commodity Senior Food Program (CSFP), workforce development, and much more. The dedication and compassion of the staff and volunteers was remarkable. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to our community, and we appreciate all they do to make a positive impact. Thank you to Carlos and his team for all your hard work and the great service you provide our community!

Celebrating Udall Foundation Scholarship Awardees.
I joined the Udall Foundation on Wednesday as they celebrated their scholarship awardees and hardworking students. These programs play an essential role in supporting the next generation of leaders, providing them with opportunities to engage in public service and environmental studies.
I recently had the honor of introducing the Udall Foundation Reauthorization Act to support the foundation, a crucial effort to ensure the continued operation of these programs for future students across the nation. Their dedication to their studies and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities are truly inspiring. I look forward to seeing the incredible things they will accomplish in the future. Keep up the great work!

Honoring Arizona Hero Jacob Dindinger.
I was honored to attend the Jacob Dindinger Memorial EMT Scholarship Fund event last week alongside his family and friends. Jacob was a 20-year-old EMT who was killed in the line of duty in 2021. This event was a solemn reminder of Jacob's bravery and the profound impact he had on our community. His sacrifice and the risks that first responders face daily will never be forgotten. The scholarship fund established in his memory serves as a testament to his dedication and commitment to serving others. It also provides a way to support future EMTs who aspire to follow in his footsteps. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who choose the noble path of public service. Thank you to Jacob's family for having us to honor his memory and celebrate his life.

Speaking with Arizona Banking Industry Leaders.
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with a group of Arizona bankers to discuss important ways we can enhance financial security for Arizona families and boost stability in our banking sector. Our conversation focused on addressing the challenges and opportunities within the industry and finding ways to ensure that our financial institutions continue to serve our communities effectively. The banking sector plays a critical role in our state's economy, providing families with access to capital and employing over 50,000 Arizonans employed in this field. I am grateful for the dedication and hard work of these professionals in AZ-06. I look forward to continuing our collaboration to strengthen the economic future for all Arizonans.

Profiles of the American Dream: West Region champion Willcox All-Stars.
This week we pay tribute to the amazing girls of the West Region champion Willcox All-Stars.
These astounding athletes went unbeaten at the district, state and region tournaments to earn their place in local sports history.
Their postseason run came to an end on Friday in Greenville, North Carolina at the Little League Softball Series. They lost 5-2 to a team from the Philippines.
While in North Carolina, the team even made the most of three weather delays caused by tornado warnings from Tropical Storm Debby - they got pedicures.
This was Willcox’s first trip to the World Series and they were only the fifth team from Southern Arizona to reach this sports mountain top.
Congrats, ladies. You made us all proud.
