A Weekly Note from Rep. Ciscomani.

We are halfway through six straight weeks back in AZ-06 and the August district work period is in full swing. From meeting with leaders of the school board in Casa Grande to reading to students at Hudlow Elementary School and seeing firsthand FY2025 projects around the district, we had a busy week.

Investing in Casa Grande Education.

Last Monday, I met with leaders of the Casa Grande School Board to address the need for more housing for our new teachers, the backbone of our future generation. Through an innovative school program, students will develop valuable skills by constructing homes for educators. I am proud to have provisionally secured $1.8 million for this project in the FY25 funding package. I also met with local leaders to discuss the $1 million in preliminary funds we secured for Casa Grande Elementary School District's new community center.

As we wrapped up last Monday in Casa Grande, I was honored to join the Casa Grande Union High School District board meeting to present 25 outstanding educators with the American Dream Award. As a dad of six, I’ll always prioritize students and educators in AZ-06.

Meeting with McDonald’s Managers and Leadership.

What a full circle moment connecting with and learning from the dozens of leaders from McDonald's locations across Southern Arizona last week! Having started working in fast food at the Wendy's on Broadway and Kolb in Tucson, I have a deep appreciation for the skills and leadership shown by these dedicated individuals. Their commitment to excellent customer service and their employees is truly inspiring. These leaders play a crucial role in supporting our communities and local economies, and I am committed to fighting for policies that will help management, staff, and employees at businesses – big and small – across the district.

Supporting our veterans.

While I am in Arizona, crisscrossing the district to learn more, my team in DC continues to focus on the policy solutions we discuss when we get to meet face to face. Recently, a few veterans bills have been brought to my attention and I have signed on to show my support. Read more about them below!

I co-sponsored H.R. 9335, the Maternal and Infant Delivery: Wellness, and Integration with Vital Expertise Support (MIDWIVES) for Servicemembers Act. This bipartisan bill would expand access to maternity care for servicemembers and their families by extending midwifery care to those enrolled in TRICARE.

Additionally, I co-sponsored H.R. 9276, the Veteran Caregiver Re-education, Re-employment, and Retirement (Veteran Caregiver RRR) Act to enhance medical, employment, and other benefits to support veteran family caregivers. As we work to provide our veterans with the care they deserve, we must also support their caregivers, who play a crucial role in their lives. As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I recognize that caring for those who served extends beyond the veterans themselves to their families and support networks. I am proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation with Representative Morelle to ensure our veterans’ caregivers receive the compensation, benefits, and support they need. I will continue to advocate for our veterans in Congress.

Revitalizing the City of Eloy.

Last week, I had an incredible visit to Eloy where we discussed the $1 million I preliminarily secured for the city in the House Appropriations Committee’s FY25 funding package. These funds will revitalize the city’s historic Frontier Street, the main gateway to their downtown, revamping the area and supporting the community’s growth and development. Securing federal dollars for our district priorities is vital for ensuring that our local needs are met and that our communities thrive. I am proud to advocate for this important investment and work towards bringing this funding home, helping to drive progress and revitalization in our district.

Recapping the August Work Period.

On Tuesday, I joined Bill Buckmaster on KVOI to highlight my activity during the August district work period and my recent meetings across the district. We discussed my recent stop at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs with VA Secretary Denis McDonough and my visits to several projects I provisionally secured funding for in the FY25 appropriations process. The August district work period provides an opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact of our efforts in Washington on the community. It also allows me to visit with you all, touring local businesses, meeting with interest groups and organizations, and talking to constituents. It’s been a busy and productive period, and I’m excited to continue connecting with folks across AZ-06.

Joining the Knights Breakfast Group.

On Thursday last week, I joined the Knights Breakfast Group, we had a great discussion touching on a range of critical issues, including homelessness, border security, road infrastructure, and national updates. Our businesses and job creators are the economic engine of our state. Business leaders like these are helping others achieve their American Dream.

Investing in the Town of Duncan.

On Wednesday, my team and I spent the day in Duncan, where I saw firsthand the impact that our $1.9 million investment would have on the area. This funding, preliminarily secured in the FY25 appropriations package, would resurface 4,000 feet of Main Street and High Street—roads that haven’t been repaved in 45 years. This significant infrastructure upgrade will greatly enhance local safety and quality of life. Additionally, I met with local leaders from various sectors including ranching, government, schools, and substance abuse prevention, discussing their priorities and sharing updates from Washington. It was great to speak with the community and explore ways to support their initiatives.

Later in the day, I toured the Duncan Post Office, which I am working to name in honor of Sandra Day O’Connor. While Sandra Day O’Connor would go on to become the first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, she had humble roots right here in AZ-06, growing up on a cattle ranch in Duncan. Her remarkable legacy and connection to our community make this tribute fitting.

Reading to Hudlow Elementary Students.

Last week, I joined students and teachers at the Hudlow Elementary School to read to their classes. As a dad to six, I love to see our students in the classroom, developing their skills and preparing for their future. Seeing the passion and commitment of our teachers is a great reminder of how important early childhood education is for our community’s future. Thank you to all of the teachers for their hard work in our community.

Touring Encompass Health.

My family and I ended the week touring Encompass Health, one of our incredible health care facilities in AZ-06. This facility holds a special place to the Ciscomani family — Encompass Health cared for my father following his time in the hospital in which he spent 7 weeks in a coma. Visiting the hospital with my father, back on his feet, was a testament to the amazing work being done here and by all our health care workers in the district.

Pima seeking additional funds for road to new high school
Gila Valley Central
While the funding proposed by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., for construction of a road to the new Pima High School, continues to move forward, the money proposed from another source appears to be gone.

Scholarship named after fallen EMT Jacob Dindinger
KGUN9
"I think Jacob's story needs to be told everywhere," said Congressman Ciscomani. "What he did, how he grew up in this community, going to CDO High School, which is in my district as well, not far from where I live. And then, in this campus, I also went to this campus, many years before Jacob, but we were here in the same campus. He gives back, an EMT, and his life gets tragically cut short on the line of duty. I mean, these are the kind of stories Arizona needs to hear about. The inspiring stories of sacrifice of people like Jacob and his family, that paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect us.”

Ciscomani updates CG districts on $2.8M funding for projects
Pinal Central
U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., provided an update regarding preliminary federal funding totaling $2.8 million for two building projects for the Casa Grande Elementary School and Casa Grande Union High School districts.

Profiles of the American dream: Dick Eggerding.

This week we recognize not just one person who exemplifies the American Dream but the many men and women who’ve been working tirelessly for the past nine years to turn one man’s vision into a reality.

The man is Dick Eggerding and his dream is a simple one: a memorial to our active duty military, veterans, first responders and health care workers. At this very moment, the Arizona Heroes Memorial in Oro Valley’s Naranja Park is racing toward a November ribbon cutting.

We can’t wait. When the memorial opens it will be the only one of its kind west of the Mississippi.

Projects like this don’t happen overnight and they don’t happen without an army of dedicated volunteers. Dick planted the seed. Our amazing community made sure it took root.

Thankfully, they had lots of support. Numerous individual sponsors have stepped up and an impressive group of civic-minded local companies have generously donated more than half a million dollars in labor and materials.

“Giving back” is a phrase we hear a lot. Our neighbors building the Arizona Heroes Memorial are showing us what it means.
