Supporting Our Ally Israel.

I signed a letter led by my colleague Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17) to U.N. Secretary General António Guterres, raising concerns about the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to downgrade Israel’s status at the U.N. General Assembly. This move would strip Israel of key privileges within the body and hinder its ability to defend itself.

The letter states that “any downgrade in Israel’s status at the U.N. General Assembly would lead to a corresponding reduction in U.S. financial, material, and political support to the United Nations.” Supporting our closest ally in the Middle East as they defend themselves against Iran-backed terrorist proxies remains a top priority. Laura and I attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Handel’s Ice Cream Shop in Tucson. We’re thrilled to see Handel’s Ice Cream investing in our community, creating jobs and providing our district with delicious ice cream. Pain Institute of Southern AZ Groundbreaking Ceremony.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pain Institute of Southern Arizona, led by Dr. Eric Cornidez, MD. The Pain Institute has multiple locations in Tucson, San Tan Valley, Safford, and Benson and are committed to providing state-of-the-art pain-relieving procedures and treatments. Dr. Cornidez, a Sunny Side high school graduate, Stanford alum and Mayo Clinic-trained specialist has made significant contributions to our community through his clinical work and involvement in various organizations. I am proud to support this new location and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our district.

Twin Peaks K-8 School.

Alongside Superintendent Dr. Dan Streeter, I had a great visit at Twin Peaks K-8 School of the Marana Unified School District. Twin Peaks K-8 School is a shining example of academic excellence and rigor. They have received high ratings from the Arizona Department of Education for outstanding achievement in mathematics and reading. They have also been recognized as a National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) Higher Performing School for achievement in science.

I am very thankful for all the contributions Twin Peaks has made to our community and for educating our future generation of leaders and innovators. I firmly believe that education is a pillar of the American Dream, and I remain committed to supporting Title I schools like Twin Peaks. As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Service, and Education, I was the only republican who supported valuable funding for Title I schools in this year’s appropriations package.

Granite Construction Mining Alliance Meeting.

I was proud to attend and speak at the Granite Construction Mining Alliance Meeting. It was great to connect with everyone and discuss the importance of increasing American mining and exploration. We talked about the Senate's Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 (S. 4753) and its potential to expedite timelines, streamline processes, and support clean energy deployment. I also highlighted my work on the Critical Mineral Consistency Act (H.R. 8446), which aims to enhance our domestic supply of vital minerals like copper. Supporting our mining industry is crucial for our economy and national security, and I'm committed to advocating for policies that benefit our district and the nation.

Safeguarding Arizona's water future
Eastern Arizona Courier
"Water is our most precious resource. It sustains life, fuels our ecosystems, powers industry, and nourishes our crops and livestock. As Arizona’s economy and population continues to grow, the continued success of our state relies on our ability to protect our water supply. This means strengthening infrastructure and investing in conservation and drought resiliency efforts to safeguard our supply for generations to come. As your representative, I will continue to responsibly advocate for legislation, funding and other efforts that promote a more secure water future."

Profiles of the American Dream.

Rising to the top ranks of the U.S. Army is no easy accomplishment. It’s even harder if you start your military career as a private in the National Guard.

Yet that’s exactly what Jack Blair did over the course of his 32-year career in uniform.
Jack served our country with distinction in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and El Salvador, among other places, before retiring as a brigadier general in 1980. That’s when he started leaving his mark on Sierra Vista as the vice president of the company that developed the Pueblo del Sol Country Club, one of Arizona’s premier golf courses.

“The number of generals who have influenced the identity of this community can be counted on one hand, with fingers left over,” the Sierra Vista Herald wrote recently. Jack for years played a leading role in that rarified group.

Jack “invested himself in the community, volunteering and serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, and other local organizations,” the paper wrote. He “will forever be remembered for defining a significant segment of Sierra Vista's identity as a wonderful community where families can live, work and play.”

Jack passed away on Sept. 2 at the age of 96. We salute him as someone who lived the American Dream, defended it and made it a reality for many others.
