Helping Those in Need at Thanksgiving Blessings To Go.

From my family to yours, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and delicious food! As we look back on the holiday, let us appreciate all the blessings in our lives and cherish our community. During the holidays, we are especially grateful for the brave men and women in uniform, veterans, and first responders who keep us safe every day, including the Holidays. May the Thanksgiving spirit inspire us to work together towards a brighter future and keep the sense of gratitude alive in our hearts as we move forward.

My family and I were proud to volunteer at the Thanksgiving Blessings To Go event in Tucson, where we helped pack essential supplies and serve nutritious meals to families in need. It's always heartening to see our community come together to support one another. Blessings to Go not only offers meals and resource boxes but also provides showers, haircuts, children's activities, pastoral services, and connections to vital resources. This annual event has grown each year, impacting more lives and offering hope to those in need, and I am grateful to have taken part many times. Proud to see our community come together to support vulnerable individuals and remind them that they have our support during the holidays.

Honoring the Great Educators of AZ-06.

I was honored to meet Jaime Camero, a 2023 Arizona Teacher of the Year Semifinalist. Jaime is a sixth-grade science teacher at Douglas Elementary in the Flowing Wells Unified School District, with a remarkable 22-year teaching career. She holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Design, is a National Board Certified Teacher, and was named a Raytheon Leader in Education in 2022. As a dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) teacher, Jaime is a shining example of an educator committed to helping her students reach their full potential and achieve their American Dream. Her dedication to education and her students' success truly sets her apart.

Profiles of the American Dream.

Ed Honea was an everyday guy who spent nearly every day for 37 years working to make his hometown a better place.

Marana wasn’t just the place where Ed was born and spent all his life. It wasn’t just the place where five generations of the Honea family lived, worked and raised their families. Marana for Ed was a cause – a cause he enthusiastically championed at every opportunity.

Ed’s unexpected death on November 22 marked the close of an amazing American Dream story, but his legacy will surely live on. Marana is what it is today thanks in no small measure to Ed’s wise and caring stewardship.

Ed never forgot the servant part of being a public servant or the community part of being a community leader. His eyesight wasn’t so good in recent years, but his vision for Marana was always crystal clear. The town had a past worth remembering and future that was as bright as a summer day.

Marana voters elected Ed to three terms on the Town Council and his first stint as mayor was brief, lasting a mere two years in the mid-1990s. But he took the top job again in 2005 and never let go. Marana wouldn’t let Ed go.

Ed loved Marana with all his heart and Marana loved Ed in return. He will be missed.
