Securing Arizona’s Water Future.

Last week, I met with the Central Arizona Water Conservation District to discuss securing Arizona's water future. We focused on the challenges our state faces with water conservation and resiliency and discussed the post-2026 Colorado River allocations. Specifically, we discussed over deliveries of water to Mexico, and ways the federal government can aid in keeping our water in Arizona. It's crucial that we find common ground and work together with all the states that share the Colorado River.

Coordinating Care Act.

I am extremely proud to have introduced bipartisan legislation to enhance healthcare coordination and management for veterans who qualify for services through both Medicare and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). My bill, the Coordinating Care for Senior Veterans and Wounded Warriors Act (H.R. 668), proposes a three-year pilot program within the VA to assign dedicated case managers to these veterans. These case managers will develop individualized healthcare plans that best suit each veteran's unique needs, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care. Our veterans are our nation’s heroes. When they hang up their uniform, they deserve access to the highest quality care.

Annual Blessings Breakfast.

The Annual Blessings Breakfast is one of my favorite events, and I am grateful I’ve had the opportunity to attend for nearly a decade! I am so honored by the opportunity to pray and give blessings to our elected officials and first responders for all that they do for our community. We are lucky to live in a community that provides such an abundance of blessings, and I can personally attest to the power of prayer and the importance of faith to lift all who serve.

National Border Patrol Council.

As Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, securing the border and protecting our communities is my number one priority. Last week, I met with the National Border Patrol Council to discuss their priorities for the upcoming reconciliation process. We focused on critical issues such as recruiting new Border Patrol agents, providing retention bonuses, and securing funds to strengthen their vehicle fleet.

Laken Riley Act Sent to President.

The Laken Riley Act, which I am proud to cosponsor, will be the first bill President Trump signs into law this term! This crucial legislation ensures that any illegal immigrant who commits a crime is not allowed to remain in the United States. By passing this bill, we honor Laken's memory and work to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future. I proudly voted for the Laken Riley Act, reaffirming our commitment to protecting our communities. Now, we await the President's signature to make this law a reality.

Promises made, promises kept! In his first day back in the White House, President Trump signed a flurry of executive orders to fulfill the promise he made to the American people. Profiles of the American Dream.

Fans, friends and colleagues packed an elegant meeting room at the Arizona Inn earlier this month to celebrate W. Mark Clark, the retiring president and CEO of the Pima Council on Aging.

Mark has been at the helm of PCOA since 2014 and has a well-earned reputation as a champion for older adults. Under his leadership, the Tucson-based non-profit has become a national leader in promoting dignity and respect for aging.

This kind of advocacy is nothing new for Mark. He’s been involved with behavioral health, human services, housing and faith-based organizations for four decades. And his impact has not gone unnoticed. Mark is a recipient of Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness and Arizona chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

“Being a social worker has provided me with unique opportunities to serve my community and help those in need,” he says.

Mark exemplifies the American Dream. We wish him the best on his retirement and thank him for his dedication to a truly worthy cause.
