Veterans Advisory Council.
Veterans are our nation’s heroes. As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Congressman to nearly 80,000 veterans, caring and supporting those who served is a responsibility I take extremely seriously. To effectively serve veterans in my community, and across the country, I have created and have been listening to my Veterans Advisory Council about the unique challenges they face and how I can continue to use my office to provide them with the benefits and support their service earned. Last week, I hosted a quarterly meeting with my Veterans Advisory Council to hear their concerns about recent developments with the Department of Veterans Affairs. As it stands only 11 non-health care or benefit providing employees have been let go from the Southern Arizona Veteran Affairs Health Care System. As I reassured those at my Veterans Advisory Council, I will always stand against any cuts to veterans' benefits, and I will always work to support our veterans, their families, and their access to the programs and benefits they have earned. Read more about my meeting with the Veterans Affairs Council here. To see more of my work fighting on behalf of our veterans, please click here.

Miners Appreciation Lunch.
As the Copper State, Arizona continues to lead the nation in the production of copper and other critical minerals that are essential for our national security, clean energy technologies, and advanced manufacturing industries. I was glad to attend a miner appreciation lunch hosted by the Arizona Mining Association in Casa Grande to thank the men and women who help power our state! In Congress, I recently reintroduced the Critical Mineral Consistency Act (H.R. 755) to bolster the domestic supply of critical minerals by ensuring parity between Critical Materials, as defined by the Department of Energy (DOE), and Critical Minerals, as defined by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Leaders from Pinal County.
Forging a strong partnership between the federal government and local officials is essential to deliver real, lasting results for communities in our district. Last week, I met with elected officials and local leaders in Pinal County, including Casa Grande Mayor Lisa Fitzgibbons, Eloy Mayor Andrew Sutton, and Pinal County Supervisor Stephen Miller, to find ways to work together to address key issues that matter to our constituents. We talked about the need to strengthen critical infrastructure in the region and work together with Upper and Lower Colorado River Basin partners to promote a more secure water future for Arizona and the Western United States.

Next Generation of Firefighters.
In times of crisis, our first responders always go above and beyond the call of duty to keep us safe and protect our communities. I was proud to speak at Northwest Fire Graduation Ceremony for the Class 24-01, where I witnessed firsthand the dedication and courage of these new firefighters. Their selfless commitment to serving our community is deeply inspiring, and I have no doubt they will contribute greatly to the safety and security of our communities. Congratulations to all the newly sworn-in firefighters and thank you for answering to call to serve!

Naturalization Ceremony.
As the first naturalized citizen from Mexico to represent our great state of Arizona in any federal office, I was honored to speak at a naturalization ceremony and see so many people accomplish their goal of becoming American citizens. If you are in the process of becoming an American citizen and need help, you can submit casework with my office here! Nearly 19 years ago, I sat in a very similar room and became a U.S. citizen. I will never forget the immense pride I felt that day. Now, as a member of Congress representing the community that gave my family and I a shot at our American Dream, I am extremely proud to be able to attend these ceremonies to welcome our new fellow American citizens!

During the meeting, we talked about the best ways to prioritize the needs of our district and how I recently voted to avoid a government shutdown. We also spoke about the need to reduce government waste, and key issues like protecting Medicaid benefits, nutritional assistance programs, and Pell Grants.

Agriculture in the District.
Southeastern Arizona’s vibrant agricultural industry is known for its citrus and cotton farms and supports thousands of jobs, sustains local businesses and provides high-quality produce to our communities across the region and beyond. Last week, during National Agriculture Day, I was proud to use my platform to promote our farmers and ranchers. According to the 2025 Feeding the Economy report, in our district, agriculture:
- Supports 82,641 total jobs
- Outputs $14.96 billion annually
- Provides $4.56 billion in wages for workers annually

Profiles of the American Dream.
Go Aztecs! We couldn’t be prouder of Pima Community College men's and women’s basketball teams. Both gave their all this season, and it showed. The men clinched their second straight Region I, Division II Championship - the fifth under coach Brian Peabody – and secured a spot in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. And though they ended up finishing third in the tournament, the men’s squad was fierce. They set a new program record with 35 total wins, 34 straight wins and barreled through 16 games with triple digit scores. The women’s team also proved they’re a force to be reckoned with. They closed out their season at 29-6, falling just short of winning the first national championship in the program’s history. This season’s victories were the most wins in a single season since 2010-11 and tied a single season record for the program under coach Todd Holthaus. Pima basketball this season lived the dream – the American Dream.
