Increasing Transparency in Medicare.
Seniors in our district, and across the U.S., who are on Medicare deserve full transparency about their healthcare costs and coverage. As Congress continues working to safeguard these vital benefits while reducing waste and increasing efficiency, we need to better understand the Center of Medicare and Medicare Services’ (CMS) billing processes to reduce costs and premiums for those on Medicare.
I reintroduced the Oversight of Medicare Billing Code Cost Act (H.R. 3580) to direct the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to conduct a study of the processes and procedures used by CMS when determining Medicare billing codes. This would help identify inefficiencies, increase transparency, and provide patients, physicians, and policy makers greater insights into how billing decisions by CMS impact healthcare costs.

Touring the Ronald McDonald House.
Last week, my daughter, Zoe, and I visited the Ronald McDonald House, a fantastic organization that provides free or discounted housing to the nearly 9,000 people last year who had to travel due to a medical emergency. This assistance helps families stay together in their time of need as they care for their sick child.
The staff and caregivers do incredible work, and it was truly a privilege to tour the facilities and learn more about their efforts helping families during difficult times. In college, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a Ronald McDonald House, so this visit was incredibly meaningful – especially having my daughter with me. I am extremely grateful for all the incredible work they do in our community, and I look forward to visiting again!

Visiting Benson Hospital.
Rural hospitals are the backbone of the healthcare system in smaller communities, providing critical access to medical services, emergency care, and support where it may otherwise be limited or unavailable.
My team and I visited Benson TMC Hospital, which serves around 15,000 patients every year, to tour their facilities and speak with their leadership about the invaluable role they play in our community and reiterate my commitment to protecting and strengthening rural healthcare.

Talking with the Business Community.
My first event after being elected to my first term in Congress was addressing the Southeast Arizona Economic Development Group.
It was great to be back to provide an update about my work in Congress supporting our business community, including my recent vote in favor of H.R. 1, President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”. This bill delivers on key promises, like eliminating taxes on tips and overtime and extending the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to prevent the largest tax increase in American history.

Supporting Our Veterans.
Our veterans are America’s heroes. Representing nearly 80,000 veterans who call our district home is my distinct honor. I will continue to use my position to advocate for policies, funding, and other efforts to make sure our heroes receive the benefits and support their service earned.
Last week, I introduced the Veteran Readiness and Employment Program Integrity Act (H.R. 3579) to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program. This program is meant to assist veterans with job training, educational opportunities, and employment accommodations to empower them to successfully transition into civilian life. However, a lack of performance measures and employment outcomes makes assessing the program’s effectiveness difficult.
My bipartisan bill will strengthen this program by requiring a third-party review of each VR&E track to provide recommendations for improvements and directing the VA to report:
- Employment numbers and annual wages of VR&E participants to ensure they are achieving meaningful employment and successful careers
- Average wait times between a veteran’s application submission and their first meeting with a counselor to address reported multi-month wait times.

Strengthening Our Electrical Grid.
Access to safe, reliable, and affordable electricity is critical to the well-being of our communities, especially those in rural areas. Last week, I had the opportunity to visit an electric project with Tucson Electric Power that will improve our electric grid, meet with leaders and stakeholders from the solar industry, and thank our rural electric cooperatives for their work powering the rural electric network.
First, I was proud to deliver remarks at the 87th Annual Meeting of the Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative – the largest electric cooperative in Arizona – to thank them for their work powering over 60,000 members across 5,700 square miles. Electric co-ops are vital to our rural electric grid, and unlike traditional utility companies, they are service-based and owned by the people they serve, making them uniquely suited to address the needs of their communities.

As Vice Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus, I met with the Solar Energy Industries Association to discuss the importance of solar energy in Arizona. We discussed how investing in clean and renewable power is an essential component of an all-the-above-energy strategy to ensure the reliability and affordability of our electric grid in a clean and responsible way. I am incredibly grateful for United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Arizona for hosting this important conversation.

I finished the week by visiting Tucson Electric Power’s Roadrunner Reserve II site, an impressive 200-megawatt battery system that will help power over 42,000 homes and strengthening grid reliability by expanding energy storage. From powering schools, to homes, to medical facilities, and community centers, having reliable access to electricity is critical to quality-of-life. This is why I will continue working to support policies and funding that strengthen our electrical grid, support our local communities, and encourage innovation in storage and clean energy technologies.

Ciscomani Asks Sec. Rubio About Repositioning Foreign Aid Towards ‘Prioritizing National Security’
Forbes Breaking News
‘During a House Appropriations Committee hearing last week, Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) spoke about the Trump administration's foreign aid policy.’
USMMA welcomes Benson’s Kenneth Hawkins as future midshipman
My Hearld/Review
“Right now, it's a fact that it is actually more difficult to be accepted into one of the military academies than to be accepted into one of the Ivy League schools in our nation,” Ciscomani told the crowd. “So, it's harder to get into the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, West Point, than it is to get into Columbia, Harvard, or one of those big Ivy League universities.”
Congressman Juan Ciscomani Visits Benson Hospital
Sierra Vista Live
“Congressman Juan Ciscomani stopped into Benson Hospital TMC Health on Thursday afternoon to meet with CEO Gary Kartchner and his team. Congressman Ciscomani received a tour of the hospital and the mobile MRI unit.”

Profiles of an American Dream.
Thirty years is a long time. Volunteering for 30 years, that’s dedication.
Anita Korhonen is an immigrant from Scandinavia who this year marks three decades as a volunteer for the Arizona Rangers, a uniformed auxiliary that assists federal, state and local law enforcement.
“It makes me feel very humble and it makes me feel very proud,” she says of her accomplishment.
Anita grew up in Finland, worked a few years in New York and moved to Arizona in 1995. She’s now a major with the Rangers’ Madera Company, which serves the Sahuarita-Green Valley area.
“The satisfaction is to serve, to help law and order.,” Anita says. “And then when people look at you, they don’t say, ‘Thank you for your help.’ They say, ‘Thank you for your service.’”
Thank you, Anita. Our community – and the American Dream – depends on driven people like you.
