Serving Constituents in AZ-06.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job as your representative in Congress is being able to directly help constituents with a problem they may have with the federal government. Few things are more professionally and personally rewarding than assisting the residents of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District cut through the red tape and get them the answers they deserve.

This is especially true when a constituent is owed money. Since taking office in January 2023, my office has proudly help return $11.5 million to more than 200 constituents. In the past six months alone, we’ve returned over $5 million to the residents of southeastern Arizona, including $4 million specifically for veterans.

One case involved an Air Force veteran whose disability claim was at a standstill. He called my office, my team sprang into action and we were able to secure $430,000 that rightfully belonged to the constituent.

Another case involved a constituent who was having a tough time with the Social Security Administration. We were able to help him get nearly $200,000 that he was owed.

Results like these may not make headlines but they can be lifechanging. So, if you have an issue with an agency or department of the federal government, my office would be honored to be or service. Call my Tucson District Office at 520-881-3588 or go to my website, ciscomani.house.gov, click on “Services” at the top of the screen and then “Help With a Federal Agency.”

HALT Fentanyl Act Signed into Law.

I applaud President Donald Trump for signing the HALT Fentanyl Act into law, permanently designating fentanyl as a Schedule 1 drug — a vital step in combating the fentanyl crisis that is devastating communities across our country. In Pima County, fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for people between 18 and 45 years old. That’s why I was a proud cosponsor of the HALT Fentanyl Act and voted YES when the bill came before the House in February. As a representative of a border district, I remain committed to protecting our communities from harmful drug trafficking.

Defense Spending Bill Passed.

Last week, the House PASSED the Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations bill!

As a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, I take seriously the responsibility of overseeing the use of your tax dollars to ensure we invest in our nation’s military, protect our southern border, and support our troops and their families

The following are some key provisions of the FY26 Defense Appropriations bill:

  • 3.8% pay increase in basic pay for military personnel
  • $13 billion for missile defense and space initiatives
  • $1.15 billion for counter drug programs
  • Transferring Mexico's jurisdiction from U.S. Northern Command to U.S. Southern Command for improved coordination

Supporting the Selection of Fort Huachuca for a New Space Force Mission.

Recently, my office was briefed by U.S. Air Force leadership on the proposed selection of Fort Huachuca for a new U.S. Space Force mission system, which would include adding a squadron to provide Combatant Commands with enhanced space awareness capabilities. I strongly support Fort Huachuca’s selection for this potential Space Force mission as I believe the installation’s unmatched airspace and technical capabilities make it the ideal location to advance Air and Space Force innovation and strengthen our national defense.

My Statement on the Grand Canyon Fire.

I am heartbroken at the news of the significant damage the Dragon Bravo Fire caused to the Grand Canyon Park’s North Rim infrastructure—including the loss of the historic Grand Canyon lodge, dozens of cabins, and many park facility buildings. I am incredibly grateful for our firefighters who fought against the spread of the flames and prevented the situation from becoming far worse.

See my statement on the impact of the Dragon Bravo fire on the Grand Canyon National Park below:

Profiles of the American Dream.

Congratulations to Santa Rita Fire District Chief Chuck Wunder, the Arizona Fire Chief of the Year!

Chuck recently received this amazing honor from the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association at their annual Fire and EMS Leadership Conference.

What makes it extra special is that Chuck was nominated for the award – unanimously – by his colleagues at the Pima County Fire Chiefs, a group of 19 fire districts in Southern Arizona.

It’s well deserved. Chuck’s exemplary leadership and dedication to public service was recognized for a variety of reasons. Among them was his handling of the annexation of northern Sahuarita last year, which meant making sure there wasn’t a disruption in emergency services to the community. He was also recognized for being responsible for the district's Fire Corps and Community Emergency Response Team.

"It's an honor to receive something like this," Chuck told the Green Valley News. "But really, this is a reflection of the great people we have working for us. It's great to be able to come up with a vision and provide guidance, but the hard work that our men and women put out each and every day, then their dedication, is what makes something like this happen. So, I'm grateful to all of them, and I very much enjoy working with them. I'm proud to be associated with them."

Congrats, Chuck! Job well done.
