Supporting the Selection of Fort Huachuca for a Space Force Mission.
As your Congressman for Arizona’s 6th congressional district, which is home to two military installations, Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, I’m committed to ensuring Southern Arizona remains at the forefront of our nation’s defense. Last week, I led my colleagues, Reps. Andy Biggs and Abe Hamadeh in urging the U.S. Department of the Air Force to select Fort Huachuca as the home for a new U.S. Space Force mission focused on space domain awareness and early threat detection. I strongly believe that Fort Huachuca’s strategic location, existing infrastructure, and proven operational readiness make it the best choice for this critical mission.

Behind-the-Scenes Look at a Tucson QuikTrip.
Partnering with the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), the leading global trade association for convenience and fuel retailing, QuikTrip has grown nationally to 1158 stores in 23 states, with 151 stores employing 4000 staffers in Arizona alone.
Last week, I had an opportunity to spend a day with the incredible team at a QuikTrip in Tucson, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the hard work and dedication of the 22 staffers who keep operations running smoothly. During my visit, it was made clear to me just how much pride the QuikTrip staff takes in their work, setting a high standard for service, quality, and community support. By working side-by-side with QuikTrip staff and through speaking to representatives from NACS, I also gained valuable insight into what it takes to operate a high-demand retail and fuel business. These insights will directly inform my work with NACS on industry policy back in Washington, D.C., related to energy policy and ensuring consumers have affordable and reliable fuels for their cars, homes, and beyond. I’m grateful for the chance to step into the shoes of QuikTrip staff for a day and see firsthand how their commitment benefits our community!

Touring the Air Traffic Control Tower & Tucson International Airport with the Tucson Airport Authority.
2025 is on track to be Tucson’s busiest year ever for air travel, with 4.1 million passengers projected to pass through Tucson International Airport. To support this growing demand, I met with our air traffic controllers in the airport’s 252-foot tower to discuss their vital work to keep our skies safe. I strongly support efforts to strengthen aviation safety and staffing in Arizona’s 6th congressional district and across the nation. In May, during a hearing for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, I questioned U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy about provisions in the Department’s proposed budget that would prevent tragic incidents, like the deadly mid-air collision at the Marana Regional Airport, from happening again. In July, through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which the President signed into law, we provided $12.5 billion, which will fund the complete overhaul and modernization of our Air Traffic Control systems across the nation. During my tour with the Tucson Airport Authority, I also saw the ongoing construction of a new 11,000-foot commercial runway, the largest construction project in the airport’s history. I look forward to seeing the completion of the new runway!

Meeting with the Arizona Technology Council Board & Joining the Optics & Photonics Caucus.
After visiting Tucson International Airport, I had the opportunity to meet with the Arizona Technology Council Board to discuss a wide range of topics: from sharing recent results we’ve delivered, including the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, to the vital role technology plays in growing our economy. At the meeting, I was also proud to announce that I’ve joined the Optics and Photonics Caucus. Thank you to everyone on the council for your work in advancing this critical industry in Arizona!

Working with DHS to Secure Federal FEMA Grant Funding for AZ.
Arizona is now eligible to apply for $2.6 billion in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant funding to strengthen our state’s security and emergency preparedness. These funds made available by the Department of Homeland Security will help our state, local, tribal, and territorial partners prevent, prepare for, and respond to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and any other threats.
My office is committed to working closely with communities and emergency management organizations across Arizona’s 6th Congressional District to secure as much of this critical funding as possible. By leveraging these resources, we can better protect our families, support our first responders, and ensure a stronger, safer future for all Arizonans.
If you know of any eligible organization who plans to apply for these funds, our office may be able to provide applicants with a letter of support. Please find additional resources here or call my district office at (520) 881-3588.

Opening Ceremony of the JCC Association’s Maccabi Games in Tucson.
For the first time in 25 years, the Jewish Community Centers Association’s Maccabi Games came back to Tucson. I was deeply honored to be invited to speak at the opening ceremony to give a warm welcome to over 1,000 young Jewish athletes from around the U.S. and the world for a week of competitive Olympic-style sports and cultural events. Thank you to the hundreds of staff and volunteers who made this event an unforgettable experience for these young athletes.

Breakfast in Casa Grande at the Pinal "Partnership Series".
During this August district working period, it is great to be back home and see so much energy and optimism when meeting with local leaders and community groups about the results we have delivered over the past couple of months. Last week, I attended the Pinal "Partnership Series" breakfast in Casa Grande, where I heard directly from local business owners and community members about the economic development and growth happening throughout Pinal County. As your congressman, these meetings are so important because they also give me valuable insight into the issues and challenges facing my constituents, so when the House returns to D.C. in September, I can bring forth new legislative efforts to address the concerns of my district.

Profiles of the American Dream.
The party was hard to miss if you happened to be driving down Broadway Boulevard late last month. Colorful tents were set up, a mariachi band was playing, and one of those giant inflatable air dancers was jiggling at the entranceway to Tucson’s newest McDonald’s. The celebration was in honor of a completely rebuilt restaurant owned and operated by Paul and Nelie Dias, two immigrants from Portugal who are great examples of the American Dream. Paul started his career at the world’s largest restaurant chain as a 16-year-old crew member in Turlock, California. He worked his way up the ladder, becoming a supervisor and eventually an owner. Today, Dias Management Incorporated includes daughters Megan and Lindsey, and they help run a string of 22 McDonald’s throughout Tucson. “Luck is the dividend of sweat,” Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s, once said. “The more you sweat, the luckier you get.” The Dias family is proof of that.
