Urged the CBP to fund critical border projects in Arizona.

A little under two months ago, we passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), included in which is the most significant border security investment in history! More than $64 billion will fund the efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to secure the border and support their critical security initiatives, including CBP’s Air & Marine Operations (AMO).

Specifically, the OBBBA will provide our CBP AMO nationally:

  • Funding for 200 new AMO agents
  • More than $6 billion to help CBP interdict more fentanyl, deploy more border-surveillance technology, enhance AMO’s surveillance capabilities, and increase CBP’s use of the biometric entry and exit system
  • More than $2 billion for USBP and AMO Agents recruitment, award, and retention bonuses

Following my visit with CBP’s AMO at Fort Huachuca earlier this month, I sent a letter last week urging CBP to fund critical border projects in Arizona. The items I outlined in my letter will strengthen our state and nation by making the southern border more secure.

Happy 250th Birthday, Tucson!

On Wednesday, Tucson celebrated 250 years since its founding in 1775 – making it older than our nation. From a Spanish frontier outpost to Arizona’s oldest city, Tucson has grown into a diverse and dynamic community of over half a million people.

Our Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo heritage shows what’s possible when people work together. From mining and ranching to today’s cutting-edge aerospace, defense, and optics industries, Tucson has always been built by pioneers.

Countless families, mine included, have come here seeking opportunity – and found the American Dream in this desert city.

Spoke at Arizona Realtors Congressional Panel.

Joined by my colleagues, Rep. David Schweikert and Rep. Greg Stanton, I spoke at a meeting held by the Arizona Association of Realtors, which represents more than 53,000 realtors and serves as the largest trade association in Arizona! At the meeting, we discussed ways in which Congress can provide federal solutions to tackle the rising housing demands as our state’s economy continues to grow and attract new residents.

Spoke at the National Cotton Council’s Mid-year Board Meeting.

I joined the National Cotton Council’s mid-year board meeting to speak to members representing each of the seven segments of the cotton industry: producers, ginners, warehousers, cottonseed processors and merchandisers, cooperatives, private merchants, and textile manufacturers!

I highlighted how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which President Trump signed into law in July, strengthens safety nets, cuts crop insurance costs, and boosts support for cotton farmers! These protections in the OBBBA will keep U.S. cotton strong and vital to Arizona’s economy.
