Mourning the Life of Charlie Kirk.

I am deeply saddened by the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk. He was a devoted husband to Erika and a loving father of two beautiful children. He was a man of faith, who loved our country, and he dedicated his life to promoting free speech through open dialogue. Political violence has no place in our nation and must end.

Laura and I are praying for the Kirk Family and the millions of Americans across our country who are mourning his death.

Promoting Peace through Strength with Passing the 2026 NDAA.

House Republicans passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (H.R. 3838, Streamlining Procurement for Effective Execution and Delivery And National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026). As a member of House Committee on Veterans Affairs, and the representative of nearly 80,000 veterans in AZ06, I was proud to support this bipartisan effort to strengthen national security, give our service members a 3.8% pay raise, and deliver improved benefits for military families.

Bipartisan Border Trip Press Conference.

Last week, I joined Problem Solvers Caucus (PSC) as the caucus's co-lead for the Immigration and Border Security Working Group for a press conference recapping our visit to southern AZ, where we met with border patrol, local law enforcement, trade leaders, and community stakeholders.

PSC is ready to pursue bipartisan avenues to work on the challenges that still remain at the southern border.

PASSED – All 12 Funding Bills in Appropriations Committee.

Last week, House Committee on Appropriations PASSED all 12 funding bills — these bills cut wasteful spending, secure the border, invest in our military, protect vital programs & keep communities safe.

As the Representative of a border district, I know firsthand the importance of securing our border and ensuring responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

And with nearly 80,000 veterans in my district, I am proud that we fully funded veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and VA services, while also ensuring strong funding levels for the mental health programs our veterans rely on.

This is a strong step forward I urge my colleagues to swiftly pass the remaining bills on the House Floor!

Accepting Award from My Voice Counts Charities Foundation and Receiving Courage to Lead Award.

I was honored to receive two awards last week from two wonderful organizations that focus on immigration policy.

The first was the Courage to Lead Award from the National Immigration Forum, which recognizes Members of Congress who work across the aisle to advance bipartisan immigration solutions.

The second award was from My Voice Counts Charities Foundation, which promotes and guides a more equitable and sustainable society. This recognition is for supporting immigrant contributions to America’s Prosperity.

We must work together to identify challenges and find solutions. Thank you for these honorary awards.

Meeting with Arizonans in Washington – AADA and Arizona Credit Unions.

I was excited to meet with the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association (AADA) and the Arizona Credit Unions in Washington, D.C. last week.

Listening to these groups and understanding their challenges and victories allows me to better understand how me and my team can be more helpful to YOU.

Thank you for coming and for your time!

Speaking with Students in AZ06.

In anticipation of Constitution Week, I had the honor of joining nearly 50 bright 4th graders at Donaldson Elementary before joining a Mountain View High School Government Class on Friday to talk about our founding document, the role of government, why I ran for Congress and key issues.

Showing up means answering questions & engaging in dialogue. Proud of these future leaders and can’t wait to see what their future holds!

Profiles of the American Dream.

Bob Brutinel got together with a few friends last week at Casa Grande’s Mi Amigo Ricardo restaurant to celebrate a real milestone: his 101st birthday.

Bob’s been a fixture of the Casa Grande community for about 80 years as a plumber, a mentor to young plumbers, and a small business owner deeply involved in his adopted hometown. But we shine this week’s American Dream spotlight on Bob for the inspiring role he played in protecting and defending the American Dream.

In February 1945, Bob was among the 70,000 U.S. Marines who stormed the infamous Pacific Island of Iwo Jima, igniting a ferocious five-week battle that helped pave the way for the Japanese surrender six months later. Armed with a flamethrower, the young private first class charged enemy pillboxes, silencing machine guns and surviving a sniper bullet that nearly cost him his life. His courage and devotion to duty earned him the Silver Star and a Purple Heart.

“I know what hell is like, because I’ve been there,” Bob told the Casa Grande Dispatch a few years ago.

Thank you, Bob. Our nation owes you a tremendous debt of gratitude. And Happy Birthday!

In the News.

Trump's immigration crackdown sparks bipartisan call for asylum fixes, protection for longtime migrants

Fox News

Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., who immigrated to the U.S. as a child, agreed with Suozzi.
"When I talk about the American dream … we also have to protect those that have been here for a long time, and we want to make sure that we protect them as well," he said.

Arizona officials react to attack on conservative activist Charlie Kirk

KVOA

U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani said in a statement, "Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love of God, love of family, and love of country. He lit a fire that brought so many young Americans along with him, and his voice for conservative values echoed far beyond Arizona."

Ciscomani said Kirk believed in free speech and lived by example. "Today’s assassination was sheer evil."

Once again, lawmakers look to Southern Arizona for immigration solutions

AZPM

Ciscomani said Congress has struggled to pass comprehensive immigration laws because lawmakers try to accomplish too much in one bill that they lose support.

“We'll all rather say that in the next two years or so we were able to pass one or two pieces of legislation that actually made an impact, rather than say that for the last 10 years we've worked on a huge one that didn't go anywhere,” he said. “So the goal is to gather information, to look at what specific one we want to focus on right now, and go back to Washington and focus on that.”
