Remembering Charlie Kirk and his Legacy.
This past weekend, I had the honor of attending Charlie Kirk’s memorial service with Laura and some of our children. It was a powerful reflection of Charlie’s life: one rooted in faith, family, and love of country. Charlie’s courage to live out his beliefs without hesitation inspired so many, especially our youth, to lead with conviction and character.
His legacy of strong conservative values and devotion to his principles will continue to guide and inspire generations to come. We will never forget him.

PASSED: Two Veteran Bills.
Last week, the House passed two of my bipartisan bills to expand resources and strengthen support for our veterans. H.R. 3579, the Veterans Readiness and Employment Program Integrity Act, will improve oversight of the VA’s Readiness and Employment program to ensure veterans with service-connected disabilities have the tools they need to transition from military service into civilian life successfully. H.R. 3951, the Rural Veterans Improved Access to Benefits Act, provides that rural veterans can access timely medical exams so they can receive the benefits they’ve earned, no matter where they live.
I spoke on the House floor before the passage of both bills. My remarks can be found HERE on H.R. 3579 and HERE on H.R. 3951. With nearly 80,000 veterans in Arizona’s 6th District, I remain committed to delivering solutions that honor the service and sacrifices of our veterans, and I’m proud to see these bills now head to the Senate for consideration.

The House Passed a Continuing Resolution on Government Funding.
Last week, I voted yes on the House Floor to pass a seven-week continuing resolution (CR) that keeps the government open and prevents a harmful shutdown. A shutdown would have threatened services for nearly 80,000 veterans, furloughed federal employees, including our Border Patrol agents, air traffic controllers, and park rangers, and disrupted essential programs for seniors and families across Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District. This temporary measure ensures vital services continue while Congress continues to complete our work on full-year funding bills. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I remain committed to delivering responsible, common-sense solutions for southeastern Arizonans.

Celebrated my Citizenship Anniversary!
Last Thursday, I celebrated my citizenship anniversary with family, friends, and my colleagues in the House. Nineteen years ago, I took an oath of citizenship for the first time, and I officially became a U.S. citizen. September 18th, 2006 marks the start of a journey I will never forget, and it was built on hard work, opportunity, and the promise of the American Dream. Sixteen years after I became a citizen, I took an oath on the U.S Constitution again, but this time as a Member of the United States Congress. I will forever be grateful for the opportunities that have been granted to my family and millions of others in this country.

Supporting Women’s Health Research.
Last week, I was honored to join a bipartisan, bicameral roundtable on women’s health research with my colleagues, leading experts, and advocates, including Mandy Moore and Lupita Nyong’o. We must prioritize National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding to close the research gap on women’s health, expand treatment options, and ensure better care for women across every stage of life. I was honored to have been a part of this critical discussion.

Profiles of the American Dream.
This week we salute a beloved fixture of high school sports in Tucson – the legendary Jim Flannery.
Jim passed away last month at age 77, leaving behind a legacy of coaching, teaching and mentoring that spans generations of young athletes at Salpointe Catholic High School. Jim himself attended Salpointe from 1962 to 1966, lettering in basketball and track. After graduating from the University of Arizona in 1973, he taught P.E. and coached the freshman basketball team at Sahuaro High School before moving to his alma mater in 1974. Jim was head coach of Salpointe’s boys basketball team from 1977-93 and head boys golf coach from 1981-2020, making him one of the longest-serving high school head coaches in Tucson history. But as Greg Hansen pointed out in the Arizona Daily Star, Jim’s career was about much more than longevity. His outstanding record in both sports included a slew of Regional Championships and his selection as Coach of the Year on five separate occasions. He was inducted into the Salpointe Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. “Jim’s love for his family was matched only by his devotion to Salpointe,” his son Sean and daughter-in-law Jodie wrote after his passing. “With a genuine concern for people and a gift for guiding with both discipline and compassion, Jim left an imprint that will carry forward for generations.” Rest in peace, Jim.
