Today, we reflect on our many blessings and give thanks for the brave servicemembers, first responders, and law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe, especially those who cannot be home with their families. Because of their selfless dedication, we can celebrate all that we are grateful for in this country during a time of peace.

DELIVERED: Oracle Fire District Funding.

I’m proud to share that with my recent YES vote on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act—which ended the government shutdown—this bill included $340,050 for the Oracle Fire District to purchase a new Air Curtain Burner. This investment will enhance safety, increase efficiency, and improve air quality for the Oracle community. I’m committed to bringing more of our tax dollars back home to benefit our district.

Honoring the Late Ed Honea.

Mayor Ed Honea was a pillar of our community in Marana. He devoted nearly four decades of his life to serving the community he loved deeply. He was a hometown leader whose vision helped guide Marana’s remarkable growth, and a valued mentor and friend who continues to inspire me as your member of Congress.

Last week, I introduced a bipartisan bill (H.R. 6247) to honor the life and legacy of Ed by renaming the Marana Post Office to the “Mayor Ed Honea Memorial Post Office” in his memory. I am incredibly grateful for the support of the entire Arizona delegation on this effort, as it is a true testament to the impact of his legacy that will continue to shape Marana for generations.

Releasing the Epstein Files.

Last week, I voted yes on the House Floor in support of a bill ordering the U.S. Justice Department to release the Epstein files. The federal government owes the American people full transparency with the release of these  files, and we must ensure that the victims are protected every step of the way during this process.

Met with the Chamber of Southern Arizona.

It was nice to catch up with representatives from the Chamber of Southern Arizona, who came to D.C. to meet with me and discuss the priorities and opportunities that matter most back home. I appreciated hearing many of their insights and some updates from the business community. I will keep working to deliver real results for our communities.

Spoke with Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum at the Congressional Western Caucus Meeting.

At this week’s Congressional Western Caucus meeting, it was great to connect with Secretary Doug Burgum, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, about our shared commitment to addressing Arizona’s most pressing challenges. We talked about advancing long-term water solutions, supporting tribal communities, and ensuring that the federal government is a strong and constructive partner for rural Arizona. These issues are foundational to our state’s future, and I look forward to continuing this work with Secretary Burgum and my  fellow Western Caucus colleagues.

Bill aims to preserve funding for key solution to Colorado River drought
Las Vegas Review Journal
"For Las Vegas to keep its taps flowing, Rep. Susie Lee says this one drought measure must survive federal spending purges: water recycling. Lee, D-Nev., and Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., introduced the Large-Scale Water Recycling Reauthorization Act in Congress on Thursday to reauthorize a federal grant program that will sunset in 2026. While it doesn’t currently add any more money to the program, Lee said it would allow the Bureau of Reclamation to dole out $125 million in unused funds, extending the program to 2031."

Congress passes bill to release Epstein files, legislation heads to President Trump's desk
KVOA
"The House of Representatives voted 427-1 to release the Department of Justice records connected to convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. Only Rep. Clay Higgins of Texas voted against releasing the files. After the vote, Southern Arizona GOP Congressman, Juan Ciscomani, released a statement on social media on his 'Yes' vote. "I voted in favor of releasing the Epstein files because I support full transparency from the federal government to the American people, and my number one concern is making sure that victims are protected," Rep. Ciscomani said."

Profiles of the American Dream

Thousands of Tucson’s less fortunate will make their way to a former Radisson on the city’s south side this week, and there they will find a Thanksgiving celebration reflecting the generosity, gratitude and can-do spirit that is at the heart of the American Dream.

The Gospel Rescue Mission’s annual “Thanksgiving Blessings” event is expected to serve upwards of 3,000 free holiday meals on Wednesday. As in previous years, the parking lot of the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity will be transformed into a festive community gathering place where a small army of volunteers make sure no one leaves hungry.

The menu is exactly what you’d expect: turkey, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and pie. And the people enjoying this feast will be a cross-section of Tucson: men and women, old and young, families and quite a few who are alone.

“There's a lot of people that come here just by themselves, they’re alone, and it's an opportunity for them to sit at a table with other people,” said Bruce Beikman, the Mission’s communications director.

The event also features give-aways of hygiene packs and pet food, mobile showers, and a clothing trailer.

“This is our way of giving back to the community and to people experiencing tough times,” Beikman said. “We want them to come in and leave their troubles on the street and relax and enjoy a wonderful meal and all the festivities.”

And for that we all can be thankful.
