$22.7 Million for AZ-06 Community Projects.

One of my greatest honors as your advocate in Congress is to champion local projects with a federal nexus that local leaders have determined will have maximum local impact. Being able to deliver on these projects is one of my job’s greatest rewards.

As the only member of Arizona’s congressional delegation to serve on the House Appropriations Committee, I fought to bring critical federal resources to Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. My seat on this Committee – and two of its key subcommittees – was instrumental in this effort.

In the most recent funding package that passed on the House floor, $22.7 million was secured for community projects in AZ-06. These include:

  • $7 million for the City of Sierra Vista’s reconstruction of Buffalo Soldier Trail
  • $7 million for the Town of Oro Valley’s Bridge Replacement
  • $2 million to revitalize Cochise County’s runway at the Bisbee-Douglas International Airport
  • $1.9 million for the Town of Duncan’s Main and High Street Improvements
  • $1.8 million for Casa Grande Union High School District’s Affordable Workforce Housing Construction
  • $1 million for the Town of Pima’s High School Road Construction
  • $1 million for the City of Eloy’s Frontier Street Mill & Overlay Project
  • $1 million for Casa Grande Elementary School’s Community Center Revitalization

This legislation now moves to the Senate, where it awaits passage.

Supporting Medicaid Access for Those 65 and Over.

Last year, I introduced bipartisan legislation that removes certain limitations for disabled, working individuals who want to take part in the Medicaid buy-in program. The Ensuring Access to Medicaid Buy-in Programs Act (H.R. 1598), passed on the House floor last Thursday, January 22. It is included within the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, the final appropriations package needed to fund the government for the 2026 fiscal year.

Current law allows working adults with disabilities ages 16 to 64 to buy into Medicaid, but the program is capped once someone hits 65, meaning they have to make a tough choice between continuing to work, if they desire to, and being able to keep necessary Medicaid benefits and health coverage.

I want to ensure Medicaid is more accessible to those who need it, and that is why I am proud to have introduced and voted for this legislation which passed bipartisanly. It will positively impact a number of individuals in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District.

Following the legislation’s passage on the House floor, I released the statement below.

Civic Engineers and Constituents.

Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the 2026 Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS) Winter Conference. MAPPS develops cutting-edge technologies, software solutions, and support services for firms and government agencies around the globe. They promote economic opportunity and education within the geospatial community, and advocate for awareness of policy-related issues.

I also had the privilege of speaking at the inaugural Civic Summit hosted by the Arizona Cardinals, bringing in more than 5,000 high school students. I believe in the importance of investing in civic education and encouraging the next generation to lead, serve, and stay engaged.

Attending the First Public Lands Caucus Meeting.

Last Thursday, January 22, I attended the first member meeting of the Public Lands Caucus. As a member of this Caucus, I advocate for the preservation and use of Arizona’s public lands, spaces that offer recreational opportunities unique to AZ-06.

I am honored to serve on this Caucus alongside co-chairs Rep. Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico and Rep. Ryan Zinke of Montana, and other bipartisan members. Additionally, I am proud of the work this Caucus is doing and for the opportunity to represent the beautiful region of southeastern Arizona.

Delivering for AZ-06 Constituents.

As your Congressman, I am proud to help and support you in any way I can. That is why my office prioritizes Constituent Services.

My office has worked directly with agencies such as the IRS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Social Security Administration to return a total of $16 million to constituents since taking office—nearly $4 million directly benefiting veterans.

If you have an issue with a federal agency, please visit the Help with a Federal Agency tab on my website for more information and assistance.

Below, you can read statements from two constituents who received assistance with a federal agency from my office.

KGUN 9
“Congressman Juan Ciscomani announced Thursday that the House-passed Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 includes more than $22 million in earmarked funding for eight community projects across Arizona’s 6th Congressional District — money Ciscomani and local leaders say will pay for safer roads, stronger infrastructure and new community resources... Local officials welcomed the awards as tangible support for long‑deferred projects. Eloy Mayor Andy Sutton thanked Ciscomani for helping secure funds to ‘repair and improve our roadway infrastructure,’ while Duncan Town Manager Terry Hinton said the money will help a town whose last paving project was in 1978. Town of Pima Mayor Brian Paull said improved access and a new stoplight to the town’s high school will make travel safer for students and highway motorists.”

Profiles of the American Dream.

Onita Davis wrote a story about the significance of red poppies for a local weekly paper a few years ago. It was short – only four paragraphs – but it was a nice reminder that the little flower is “a powerful symbol of remembrance of the service and sacrifice of those who died in service to our nation.”

Onita is very good at reminding people about the men and women who’ve worn the uniform of our armed forces. She has long been deeply involved in a number of efforts to recognize and honor America’s veterans.

Many in our community may know Onita because of her tireless work with Oro Valley’s American Legion Post 132. It was in her role as president of the post’s auxiliary that she urged us to wear poppies in observance of Memorial Day.

“In the battlefields of Belgium during World War I, poppies grew wild amid the ravages of war,” Onita wrote. “The poppy is a source of financial and therapeutic benefit to the hospitalized and disabled veterans who construct them by hand, as well as benefiting thousands of other veterans and their families by the donations collected from poppy distributions.”
