Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy represents the very best of our district—kind, caring, and deeply rooted in faith and family. Her absence is deeply felt by all who know her.

Laura and I are heartbroken for the Guthrie family and continue to pray for Nancy’s safe return and for strength and peace for her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

We are grateful for the tireless efforts of law enforcement and encourage anyone with information to contact authorities immediately.

Our hearts are with the Guthrie family, and we remain hopeful and united in prayer.

First District Work Period of 2026.

With the first district work period of 2026 last week, I was grateful to spend time back home meeting with the people who make our district so special. From visiting with students and talking with parents and educators, to hearing directly from veterans, law enforcement, and community leaders, these conversations are always the most important part of my job. Listening, learning, and staying connected to the priorities of our district guide everything I do in Washington.

The start of this year has been especially productive. In just the first few weeks of 2026, we’ve secured resources for critical local projects, passed key appropriations bills to fund the priorities our local community prioritize, and delivered real dollars back to constituents through our casework efforts. I’ve also introduced new legislation focused on strengthening our communities, supporting working families, and delivering results for Southern Arizona.

This district work period is a chance to continue that momentum—checking in, reporting back, and making sure the work we’re doing in Congress reflects the needs and values of the people I’m honored to represent.

A Day in Sierra Vista.

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of spending the day in Sierra Vista. I spent the morning at the American Leadership Academy, touring the facility, reading to kindergarteners, observing the students raising the flag, and speaking to a group of fourth graders. I was proud to see a school with so many students learning in an environment that encourages character, leadership, and excellence. Last week also coincided with School Choice Week and I was honored to spend time with the bright young students of the American Leadership Academy.

I am - and will continue to be - a big supporter of school choice. Giving parents the ability to choose helps Arizona continue to excel in education and give their children the opportunity to grow and learn in the environment that best fits for them.

Afterward, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels hosted a roundtable with 20 stakeholders to discuss recent legislation that impacts Sierra Vista specifically, and the county as a whole. We spoke about the recent funding that passed in the House which will be used for critical community projects including the reconstruction of Buffalo Soldier Trail in Sierra Vista. This discussion also gave me the opportunity to speak on my support for a U.S. Space Force Mission at Fort Huachuca.

Advocating for Strong Transportation and Infrastructure Projects in AZ06.

Our builders, contractors, suppliers, and support services maintain our transportation and infrastructure across the district. Their work is critical to our region and I was honored to join the Arizona Transportation Builders Association at their annual dinner.

In Congress, we have passed legislation this year that supports infrastructure projects for our district. This includes having secured a total of $18.9 million for transportation-related projects in the FY26 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) appropriations bill.

These funds are in addition to the FY24 $14.5 million I was able to secure last year in the THUD package. As the only Member of Congress from Arizona on the Appropriations Committee, I work hard to ensure that our communities in southeastern Arizona receive all the transportation funding they need to aid development and success.

Connecting with AZ-06 Law Enforcement and Veterans.

On Friday, I had the honor of spending the day with AZ-06 law enforcement and veterans. In the morning, I attended and spoke at the 13th Annual Blessing Breakfast, praying for our first responders, law enforcement, and their families while also providing an update on the Community Project Funds that will benefit law enforcement in our district. I am grateful for all that our first responders do to keep our communities safe.

I also had the privilege of joining the Friday Pilots for lunch. The Friday Pilots is a group of retired fighter pilots who gather to share stories, laughter, and a lifetime of service. This gathering was especially meaningful as they came together to honor the life of their late friend, Keith Connolly, whom our community lost in December. The camaraderie, reflection, and shared memories spoke volumes about Connolly’s impact and the bond these men share. I am grateful to have spent time with such an extraordinary group of individuals who fought for our nation and freedom.

Welcomed Ambassador Leiter to Tucson.

Our strongest ally in the Middle East is Israel. And over the weekend, alongside members of my team, we attended a moving event at the Tucson Jewish Community Center where the Israeli ambassador to the United States Dr. Yechiel Leiter addressed around 700 people. In addition, a Torah was dedicated to Ambassador Leiter’s son who was a special forces officer in the Israel Defense Forces and was killed after the October 7 attacks.

Laura and I were honored to welcome the Ambassador to Tucson and have the opportunity to speak with him about our shared values. Proud to stand with our friends in Israel and the Jewish community.

In the News.

Ciscomani touts Cochise County funding, Space Force bid during Sierra Vista visit
Sierra Vista Herald
“Fresh off a long month in Washington helping steer a major federal spending package through the U.S. House, Rep. Juan Ciscomani returned to Cochise County on Wednesday with something concrete in hand: millions of dollars earmarked for local roads, water infrastructure and airport improvements — and a message that his seat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee is already delivering results back home. Ciscomani, a second-term Republican representing Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, visited the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Border Operations Center in Sierra Vista, where he met with Sheriff Mark Dannels, local law enforcement leaders, prosecutors, Fort Huachuca leaders and area stakeholders for a wide-ranging discussion that touched on border crime trends, economic development priorities and federal resources flowing into southeastern Arizona.”

Arizona lawmakers look to turn Chiricahua monument into state’s 4th national park
KJZZ
“A bipartisan bill on Capitol Hill is once again looking to turn one of Arizona’s federal monuments into the state’s fourth national park behind Saguaro, the Petrified Forest and Grand Canyon. Established in 1924 by President Calvin Coolidge, Chiricahua National Monument is known by many as the ‘Wonderland of Rocks’ — home to its iconic rhyolite pinnacles, which are made from volcanic ash and lava eroding over time. From Geronimo to Cochise, this land is also steeped in Apache history, something the San Carlos Apache Tribe and neighboring Mescalero Apache Tribe in New Mexico, want to see permanently protected. The latest legislative effort is being led by Democratic U.S. Sens. Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego as well as Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani in the House.”

Tucson Speaks Out: February 1
Arizona Daily Star
“Healthcare costs are always on the rise, and a lot of us retirees don’t have the privilege of being able to keep up with costs. I know for a fact, Congressman Juan Ciscomani has made this issue a priority, being an original cosponsor of the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act, which protects seniors, families, and small business owners from skyrocketing premiums. I appreciate that he also joined House Members, writing a letter to both House and Senate leadership, urging them to take action, making sure we aren’t faced with steep increases to our premiums. I believe he understands it is his and his colleagues’ duty to protect their constituents from the burden of sky-high healthcare costs, and I greatly respect Ciscomani for his continued commitment and concern on this issue. Congressman Ciscomani, thank you for the work you do to ensure that we can afford proper healthcare — it does not go unnoticed.”

Profiles of the American Dream.

A story about a local kid who made good never gets old.

Same for a story about a young patriot who enlisted to serve his country and ends up in charge of more than 1,800 people at an important military installation.

Meet Col. Brant Putnam, the Sabino High School grad in command of Tucson’s Morris Air National Guard Base, home to the Air National Guard's premier F-16 fighter pilot training unit, the 162nd Wing.

“As a native, I have watched Tucson grow in many different ways,” Brant said in an interview not long after he assumed the Wing’s top job in a few years ago. “However, with that growth what has not changed is the strong sense of community among the people. When people come to call Tucson home, they become part of a community eager to support neighbors, local businesses and community institutions.”

Brant enlisted as an airman in 1990, went on to officer training school and served at installations in Texas and New York before returning to his home state.

Brant considers Tucson an incredible place to live and we’re fortunate to have as a part of our community.
